I am posting this note to warn other new eBay sellers to not use eBay to purchase your shipping labels. eBay restricts a seller's ability to file a claim with UPS, USPS, and FedEx. I have spent the morning dealing with eBay and the UPS over an expensive item that arrived damaged at a buyers. I previously had a similar issue with the USPS but it was small dollars so I finally gave up.
I have spent several hours on the phone today going between eBay and UPS. UPS states they cannot accept a claim from the seller because eBay is the buyer of the shipping label and eBay RESTRICTS the seller's ability to file a direct claim. Spoke with an eBay customer service manager, after visiting with two reps, and she told me eBay cannot file a claim on behalf of the seller. Apparently eBay has decided to run this scam on their sellers. As of this moment, I will no longer buty my shipping labels through eBay.

You can file a claim with UPS, but there's a certain way you have to do it.
You need to sign up for a UPS account using the same email address as your Ebay account.

This is simply untrue. eBay isn't involved in the claim process. You have to contact, USPS, UPS or FedEx yourself and provide what they require to file a claim.

When you buy a UPS label on eBay's UPS account, there is a specific process that needs to be followed for filing a claim.

I did and it wouldn't go through. I also called UPS and they said eBay had restricted the shipping label so I couldn't file a claim.

I've filed 2 claims, although for less than $15. The 1st was paid within a week, the 2nd took about a month. Perhaps because I filed 2 claims so close to one another, or perhaps USPS was breaking a lot of Christmas plates around the holidays.
I filed my claims online. Had absolutely no issues. Dis you try filing online?

Also...infrequent but always successful claims experience online with USPS (labels purchased through eBay).
