Searching sold items and sorting by "ended recently" no working

When I search for an item, and click on the Sold listings, then try to sort by "ended recently," I have an issue.  (I'm talking about searching all of a particular item sold, not just my listings.) For years, my sorted results for "ended recently" would show the items in order sold, with the most recent on top, and then in order by date.  A few weeks ago this changed. Now, when I sort sold items by "ended recently," the items show up in random order.  For example, this is September 2023.  I might get an item sold in September item on top, then an August, then a September, then a June, then an August, an so on.  Today an item from 2022 even showed up near the top of the list, when there were several hundred sold in 2023.  I miss this feature, because I use it to check what price items are selling for currently, when it is an item that fluctuates in price, either up or down.  Anyone else experience this?

You are sorting by the date the listing ended, not the date the item sold. Those may be the same in many situations, but in some situations they may not be the same at all.

The problem may be related to the "out of stock" feature. If a seller uses the "out of stock" feature, the item may sell out, but the listing may not necessarily end at that time. The seller can keep the listing active with zero stock. If the seller later decides to end the listing because the seller does not plan to restock, the date the listing ended will be the date by which the item appears in your search, even if it actually sold out many months before that.

Thank you for your help! i checked out what you explained.  The items with the out-of-order dates had been ended by the sellers. What threw me off was the date that the item was last sold was what was showing in the date column of the listings, (for example, a July date stuck in the middle of 2 September dates.)  I don't know if this changed, or if I just have never clicked on items with so many items ended by the sellers.

You are very welcome.

You may be right that this was a relatively recent change; I am not entirely sure.

What is the solution though. You provided an explanation as to why it happens, however there is no option to sort by date sold, only by ended recently.

It definitely changed. It used to show you in chronological order. It no longer does. Turns a 2 min data gathering session into a 10-15 minute one with much higher level of focus and determination required. In some cases you're going to need to write things down which is ridiculous. It needs to be fixed.
