Saved search

Hello,

I have a long list of saved searches using keywords but now I am trying to create a saved search just by using a category and filters, so without searching for a keyword.

It would have to be as follows:

Category > Music > Vinyl

Then apply filters:

Speed: 45 rpm

Category: Classical

Country: Italy

How would I create such a saved search? Thank you

Oh, I see, you first search with those keywords and then you apply the filters. I thought the keywords would work as filters.

In this case the keywords are meant to find as many items as possible in the category to allow you to save the search, rather than to act as filters to weed out unwanted results. But you can certainly change the keywords to also filter out some items or search for some in particular.

Getting a new search right may take several rounds of trial and error, and may require fine tuning as time goes on if you want to keep the results relevant. I find that bookmarking searches is often useful, and I also sometimes use more than one search for a particular item -- one broad search that is guaranteed to find many items I am interested in (though it may find other items that I have to skip over), and another search that is more targeted that only finds items that meet certain specific requirements.

You must include some keywords in order to save a search -- otherwise you can browse the category and bookmark the page, but you will not be able to save it as a search.

By including a couple of common words that should be in the item specifics or category name, plus a few numbers, and putting those keywords in parentheses separated by commas, and including the body of the description in the search, you should be able to create a very general search that should find most items that qualify in that category.

If you intend to find items listed as actually located in Italy (as opposed to just Italian classical music), try this search as a starting point:

https://www.ebay.com/dsc/Records/176985/i.html?Speed=45%2520RPM&Genre=Classical&_from=R40&_dcat=1769...

Thanks. So, what I have been trying on eBay Italy, I specify classical music only:

https://www.ebay.it/b/Vinili-musica-classica/176985/bn_74210788?LH_PrefLoc=1&rt=nc

Then it gives options to select speed, so I choose 45:

https://www.ebay.it/b/Vinili-musica-classica-45-giri/176985/bn_74227740?LH_PrefLoc=1&rt=nc&rt=nc

But subsequently the search will include results from other genres as well for some reason. I think it is just not working properly? It will still have the classical music as filter, but if you click listings you will see that there are other genres.

I also notice that, when I select any filters for dimension on the left, it will give 0 results

If you alter the search terms significantly, the filters will be reset.

Try this search:

https://www.ebay.it/dsc/Vinili/176985/i.html?Velocit%25C3%25A0=45%2520giri&Genere=Classica&_dcat=176...

Yes, so these are nice results. But how do I make adjustments? If I try to replicate your search I get whole different results. I don't understand how you create these searches.
