SOLD item still shows as for sale

I checked other postings and although it looks like this has happened before, it seems no one has reported it recently:

Sold item 10/19/19, having accepted best offer.  Received payment, shipped item.

Today I get the email "You have been paid. Now it's time to ship your item", showing the same item, at the original price.

Item ID is the same on each listing. Order number is different.

Seller account activity shows the 10/19/19 transaction, but nothing for the one today.

Advanced search for my Sold items doesn't show the one from 10/19, but does show the one from 10/21/19.

I did NOT relist the item.

I have no idea what happened, but I suspect it's another issue with the new formats. Anyone?

@judith525,

when you listed that item, you said you had two of them available. Was that a mistake, and you only had one of them?

SOLD item still shows as for sale

Hello ,

This has happened to a number of dealers, myself included .  So check your listing as much as possible. This happened to me a few times with e-bay and they will down grade you to below average and charge you an extra 5% on you FVF'S I have been on e-bay 20 years as top rated seller  with 100% feedback until this happened  and the last few have been a total nightmare . This last year being the worst. GTC is a joke, forced payments, missing pictures, relisting sold books from my inventory and the list goes on. No use talking to e-bay as customer service is a total joke.  As e-bay has now rated me as a below Standard dealer even though I have 100 positive Feedback and it was their mistake they rated me on.  I am closing my shop with e-bay and moving on as I see no end to this nightmare. Its broke and they can't fix it.

Good luck

SOLD item still shows as for sale

This the zoo that ebay has become. This has happened to me at least a dozen times over the past few years. I used to run 2200 auctions. There was no way to track everything because i trusted the ebay programmers to know what they are doing. I downsized my store and am saving money. I am sticking around until next summer when my subscription runs out again.

SOLD item still shows as for sale

I lived across the street from one of the original ebay programmers in the early 1990's. His golden parachute was over six million dollars when he retired in 1999 or so. He said that the issues happening today never came up on his watch. Of course those were the early years.

I was around in the early years.  In fact, I remember being able to mail a check to eBay to pay for fees. Us old timers can remember when the entire site would crash (quite often) because the servers would get overloaded and go down.  eBay tried to keep up by regularly scheduled maintenance down times (weekly) but even that wasn't enough because the site was growing by leaps and bounds and the servers could not keep up.

Yeah, it was common to have no site access for hours and hours (sometimes close to a day) at a time.  How would today's eBay world handle going dark for more than a day?

So while glitches in today's eBay are certainly aggravating, and I DO get frustrated with them, just imagine trying to sell when the site is completely down. Or having it go dark with your auctions halfway, or completing orders with no access to the site.  It was NOT fun times.

This just happened to me! And the item sold again, it originally listed with 2 available and they sold... they sold again over the weekend and showed 0 available - I was going through my active listings this morning and it's there again. This is a very hard to find item... I cancelled the listing... Now I have cancel 2 sales...

SOLD item still shows as for sale

Same thing is happening here. I have a large store of items so impossible to always check to see why some items get re-listed after they have been sold. I've had to refund customers or apologize and allow them to choose another item from my store. It is a hard hit to your customer service. I do more apologizing now then selling some days. I now have to check every item I sell as soon as it is sold to see if it is still listed in my store and quite a few times it has been and I've had to remove it myself. Instead of moving forward with more listings I now I have to go back a few months to re-check all my sales to make sure those items are not still up for sale in my store as I'm not sure when this started happening. I noticed it about mid October. My traffic is way down since that time and since October 7th or so my profits have declined about 50% per week. So much for making things better. I hope this doesn't continue on into December.

We have the same problem!  It is so frustrating to get a ding on your seller rating when you know that you had the correct quantity, that quantity sells, and somehow it stays up and you sell something you don't have.

We are halfway thru our pre-Christmas inventory and have discovered that over 400 of our listings have disappeared.  Without the item number.... there is no way for us to track them.

SOLD item still shows as for sale

Same exact thing happening in my store as far as items being re-listed that were sold. One issue I had was when you have an item (buy it now) and you change it to (auction) it tells you it has been changed and then that same item shows up to be re-listed. So if you have a large store and you don't check every single item that can be re-listed before you re-list it, it will then be listed twice. (sigh). Why if you change it to auction from buy it now does it show up to be re-listed, I have no idea. Second, since October 7th my sales have dropped to almost nothing and I was doing great. If I see no improvement over the next month, I'll have to close my business.
