First, I want to thank your for your comment and info to sent to help out.

eBay has, or should have, some of the best folks in the business and they have Sellers with a huge variety of systems and experience with Computers and Apps.  The changes they do should be as seamless as possible and cause as few interface issues as possible, but they don't.  They roll out some pretty bad "updates".  So much so that I cringe every time I get the message that the next Seller Update is coming.  I really cringe at the pending "Managed Payments" program is pending.

Obviously your a more computer savoy guy, then I am.  In my twenties, I worked with complex systems such as Hydraulic and High Pressure air control systems and even computers, but they ran on binary or hexadecimal code, loaded by disc packs and mag tape.  So my specific knowledge is obsolete.

And even though I have not kept up with changes in technology, some aspects of my training remain true even today.  You troubleshoot complex system issues by isolating the changes or actions that resulted in the system failure.

It's true that I've had the same 2 aging Mac Book Pros for about a decade and they have served me well for general use and for managing my 2 eBay stores.  They came loaded with Safari and from time to time I do an update download to keep them as current as they can be.

So, when I have a week where several parts of eBay start getting flakey (log in screen, printing shipping labels, not being able to put in a % in Promoted Listings, etc) I have to ask myself "what changed".   I'm sitting at the same location, with the same Internet, using the same laptop and software, so why am I having issues today, that I didn't last week.

Regarding eBay, it usually isn't that hard to note that some page layout or Seller Update occurred on the same day the issue arises.   If all is fine on Monday, what changed on Tuesday?  The answer is almost always that eBay rolled out something new that doesn't work with some of the systems or settings sellers had on Monday.

Most of us know the big issues these past few years:

- When the Hub rolled out it was so unstable for a few weeks the page wouldn't stay loaded without refreshing.

- When Cataloging came out, hundreds of my listing photos were lost or overwritten by stock photos.

- Seller Update Item Specific requirements dropped a huge amount of data off my listings.

But separate from the Big Glitches, it seems that each week users are faced with a constant change to Listing Templates, App Updates, New Features, Layout and Log-in changes and frankly they all come with issues.  Keeping up with all the changes is a huge time suck.

It's like the new shipping page format, which they changed 3 or 4 times a few months ago.  They had a perfectly good layout that had been around for years.  Then made a radical layout change and tried to make it so only the selections chosen for us were visible, rather then all the choices available.  I could know, for instance, that I wanted to pick a Med Flat Rate Box, but couldn't get it to appear in the choices offered, without having to manipulate data and hit update.  Their update was costing me more time, then the old system.

Anyway, this is getting long.  Thanks again.

@hanks2016

You are welcome.

Your comments about troubleshooting are well-taken; my background is more hardware than software, so I think we may tend to approach problems similarly: what parts can we swap out, and what does that tell us about what is wrong?

Certainly whenever eBay changes something there is the potential to cause problems for some users, or many users. There is no doubt that eBay does make a lot of dumb, sloppy changes. But eBay is not operating in a vacuum, and eBay's changes are not the only changes going on. Some of eBay's changes are a driven by (or the result of) other things changing, such as browser standards, or security practices. And even when eBay changes nothing, an update to a browser or even a common add-on can cause all sorts of issues. Not long ago a problem that prevented many users from searching for ended listings turned out to be the result of a minor change in a common ad blocker subscription list.

I think a lot of users just sort of assume that because they did not explicitly change anything that the software they use is the same as it was yesterday; often that is not the case. And other folks are still using Internet Explorer 11 and wondering why many of their favorite web sites no longer work the way they used to.

I couldn't agree more. Honestly, I like eBay. It is good for what it does, but as time has passed and I mean about 15 years, what used to be a simple concept, has grown way too complex.

I once had an underwater telecom system arrive at my shore side bench for repair. It really looked like it had been blown up, with all the power components fried. Had to have them flown in special, to my location in Hawaii to make the repair. I was a Miniature/Micro-minitature repair instructor/inspector back when that term meant repairing circuit boards. No Nano has come along.

Anyway, I spent the day overhauling it it and got the word that it didn't survive a second attempt to power up. So I decided to embark on the ship and went to see with the chassis, finishing the repair on-board the vessel, as it left port. That would allow them to meet their sailing schedule and allow me to watch the chassis re-installation.

Turns out the tech had lost one of the cover plate screws while doing maintenance and had used a slightly longer one. Only about 1/4 longer and just longer enough to short out the chassis to the main copper power bus bar. Luckily I saw what he was about to do for a third time, while standing next to him.

You are right, sometimes the little things can cause a very, very big problem. And these days everyone involved in the e-commerce process is jostling to be just a bit better, or to make their version of a change, while aiming for improvement. I just wish it all worked together, on those days when a simple function like printing a label or even logging in didn't result in lost productivity.

Then there are those who really feel that bigger, and more complex, like the number of Item Specifics required to get up a new listing, are just great. It makes me long for the days when all you needed was a good title, a few photos and something in the description. A few minutes work allowed you to list and forget it, until it sold.

Best regards and thanks for the effort to help.

@paulpassarello

Here are some updated recommendations to try if you are encountering sign-in problems or verification problems with eBay Canada.

How are you signing in? Using a bookmark? If so, you may need to update it.

If you go to the ebay.ca page and use the sign-in link it will send you here:

https://signin.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

Almost all of the sign-in links I have seen send you to the same page, or an alternate page that looks the same:

https://signin.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn2

or possibly this:

https://www.ebay.ca/signin/?sgn=reg

Or this:

https://signin.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Try each of those links to see if one of these links works better for you if you are having difficulty signing in; if so, bookmark whichever link works best for future use and please follow up to let others know, as many other users are having difficulty signing in recently.

If none of those work, you might want to try another browser, or see some of the other messages in this thread for other suggestions of things to try.

SIGN IN ISSUES

I have been having problems since last weekend. Initially I received an email saying I should change my password because of suspected fraudulent activity on my account. In fact I spent 3 days preparing auctions to go live Thursday night, to run 10 days. Not fraudulent. Next another email saying that the have ended 40 of my auctions. Why? After many contacts, to no avail, I was unable to log on or change my password. Three day (9 hours total) and 7 live chats later I was finally able to get on to eBay this afternoon, a week after this fiasco began. I revised a few auction, then began having to sigh in every time. Then I had to verify that it was me repeatedly. I changed my password again but continued to have problems. Can anyone tell me what these people are doing? PLEASE!

Yes--I have same issues...makes me verify I am not a robot over and over and over and over again and again and will not let me enter to check my listings etc...Anyone help.  EBAY does not allow you to talk to live assistance---only online help that will not address the issue. I have just about had it with them....They are a huge company but cheap on personal service lately

I am having the same problem and very concerned.  It allowed me to change my password but then I had to verify over and over again with pictures of traffic lights, sidewalks, etc. and that I am not a robot.  This happens when I try to open an unpaid buyer case and this buyer has bid twice on my auctions and not paid so am concerned they somehow did something to my account but there is no telephone customer service at ebay anymore.

Others have had problems recently when using the "resolve a problem" link on the sold item page; most likely the problem is just a bad link.

Try going through the Resolution Center link at the bottom of the page instead. That may work better for you.

It is a mess and I am telling you now eBay are spying, they know what browser you are using, if you se another PC you cant sign in Unless you verify your account via and email, via live chat.

You sign in with TWO Factor and then you are asked to do a Captcha test for not being a robot AFTER you have entered a mobile phone validation code they sent to you.

THEN after all that you  you are on your .com.au home page you go to Resolution Centre you have to sign in AGAIN and do TWO Factor AGAIN and sometime prove you are not a robot AGAIN.

IT IS RIDICULOUS , seriously thinking of leaving eBay and going to Amazon they don't give you this stupid sign in issues, eBay are worse than a BANK!
