Returning an item from a country different than the one i received it

Hello, I`m a buyer from Romania and i mostly buy stuffs from UK  through an acquaintance who is located at an adress in UK and who sends me the goods in Romania afterwards. I would like to know if i ever receive an item that is "not as described" and i have the right to send it back, would i be able to send it from my country (Romania) instead of sending it back to UK and then to the buyer, through my acquaintence ? This would be more appealing to me , money and time related , especially that paypal is reimbursing returning shipping costs for my country (and others). So , would this be "legal" for ebay policy and would i be still covered by buyer protection ? Than you for any information.

This is the US Board and EU rules may be different so I would ask on the UK board.....

Here, if an item is reshipped to a buyer by a third party that voids any seller responsibility for "not as described" or "not received" case.  Simple reason that the seller has no control over , if or how well the item is reshipped. 

When you say Paypal is reimbursing (again, don't know in the EU), but the seller is being charged for the return postage.....he would only be responsible for the postage to the "friend" or back from the friend.....  that's all the buyer paid and all he could expect the seller to cover.
