Recently viewed Items Page

The "Recently Viewed Items" Page cannot be cleared. Everytime you clear it, all the items come back. Programmers please fix this!

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

>>no response

Not surprising.

Either there has been an internal shakeup and stuff like this is lowest priority, there is some huge change about to roll out (a brand new website) and they can't be bothered to tell us to just wait a few days or weeks (typical eBay zero transparency), they class it as a minor issue affecting few that doesn't really affect sales like a broken cart would, or everything is so broken that they aren't even going through the motions anymore.

That is why I have written eBay off in terms of expecting any rational or normal response or fixes for the most part, and try to mitigate issues as best I can via programming on the client side in my browsers. Some things can't be fixed (if the info just isn't there, I can't make it magically appear, but if it is but is hidden or buried, then JavaScript and CSS can surface and manipulate it)

A side note:

Glad you took one for the team and tried to contact eBay via Facebook.

I find it unacceptable that eBay thinks that requiring use of Facebook or Twitter or any social media site to receive the "good" customer support is ok. I do not and will never use those services for privacy reasons. I have fake accounts for the rare times I have to log into a social media service to retrieve a bit of info found via a web search, but that's it.

If it were possible to anonymously use Facebook or Twitter to interact with eBay I'd consider it, but my understanding is that one has to provide one's eBay username when contacting eBay, which then allows Facebook, Twitter, etc to link that info to all the other data scraped on the account (and via their other tendrils all over the internet), and do their "sell you off as a product" thing with it. Isn't gonna happen.

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

I'm usually helping out on the Member to Member Support board, so I am always viewing sellers' problems.  I just went to CLEAR ALL my viewed items, and got the message

You haven’t viewed any items recently

For starters, shop around on our Home Page or check out our Daily Deals

That message is bogus.  I've been online since about 8am PDT, and have been viewing items.

We'll see....

I continue to have issues with clearing Recently Viewed items...

Doesn't appear like anyone at Ebay even cares to respond to the problem....

Glitches are one thing but when members continue to have problems for weeks and weeks with absolutely no response from Ebay...well that is BOGUS!

@berserkerplanet

I used to get quick and excellent responses to questions over on the Ebay For Business Facebook page but something has changed over there and lots and lots of questions/comments are going unanswered for days and days. They are picking and choosing the easy ones and leaving the tough questions on the vine to die.

Which makes me very sad because I have no problems going to the Facebook page to try to get answers and then bring my finds back to help answer questions.

Ebay may feel that this Recently Viewed thing is so low on the problem list that it doesn't even require a look but it makes that little voice in my head say "geez Ebay .. you can't fix this little problem and you want me to trust you with my money???" Not in this lifetime!

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

Precisely.

It's not one thing, but all the little things adding up - every little thing broken, failed page loads, etc along with the draconian policy and major user interface changes, all occurring more and more frequently, that show eBay doesn't care, has zero respect for buyers or sellers, and can't even be bothered to (honestly) say "yes it's a mess, but we are really working on it and are doing this, that, and the other".

Has, even me after 17 years, thinking that this isn't going to work any longer as a buyer or seller.

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

I just had a response 5 minutes ago on the Ebay For Business Facebook page. CS asked a few questions, which I've answered and told them there are multiple threads/posts about this problem.

We will see if we get any results now.

Been logged in about an hour looked at 4 or 5 detail listings, then all of a sudden I got 95 to 100 back from stuff I cleared, and even bought some of it at least a week ago. This sucks ad to think we trust these people with our financial and personal data on a daily basis. HOW SECURE is EBAY????????????? They CANNOT EVEN KEEP STUFF DELETED!!!!!!! cleared it again jut b4 coming to community page....probably be back by the time I return to my ebay summary page!!

Yep, went back to summary page with a clean recent viewed file. Looked at 2 items and now have 97 items again.  Stupid with a capital stupid.

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

Hi,

I am writing from the UK and can tell you that this happens to me as well on different browsers, different computers and different O/S (Linux and windows).

The ebay community forum at ebay.co.uk has a couple of posts about this but the reply button has dissappeared, so it would seem that ebay are trying to suppress the extent of the problem.

For me I think the problem appeared around the time of the new "sign in with facebook" login page.

I have never and will never join facebook.

I think my ebay shopping has come to an end as ebay know about the problem but won't or can't fix their own mistakes.

They tried to tell me I wasn't clearing my cookies properly, therefore it was my fault.

Sorry if this comes across as a rant but I am fed up with all the "internet giants" ways.

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

Now I get a red "Something went wrong. Please try again." error when I clear recently viewed. Reload the page and they are gone. Few hours later, back to 56 items (no matter how many I view subsequently).

Can't tell if this development is a result of codemonkeys pulling levers trying to fix things, or if it's just another part falling off the juggernaut as it careens over the cliff.

Re: Recently viewed Items Page

My list stayed clear for almost a whole 24 hours.

But now it's back.

This really is quite pathetic ebay.
