Problem saving searches with ampersand in the product name.

Apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. Have been trying to save a search with an "&" in the product name but after saving, everything after the ampersand is gone. The search works fine when manually entered but saving it causes the problem.

I'm searching for car springs and the company that makes them is named H&R. I've tried the following search strings with no success:

h&r springs bmw e36

"h&r" springs bmw e36

I either end up with a saved search of H or "H. Even putting the name at the end still wouldn't get me the full company name. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

Try using a period in place of the ampersand.

I believe that in the past the period was used as a wildcard

to match special characters.

It looks like the save search routines are not parsing the & correctly and truncating the search string as you said.

However, it looks like the actual search actually ignores an & (and maybe any punctuation) completely. I get the same 112 results for
      h&r springs bmw e36
as for
      h r springs bmw e36
or for
      h+r springs bmw e36
or for
      h?r springs bmw e36

This may be an artifact of the fixes for the recent saved search dustup where + signs were getting inserted in the saved searches between keywords and were messing up the resulting searches. Or could be a result of the even more recent search changes.

Just leave the & out of the search to start with and it looks like all is good.     h r springs bmw e36
