Out of Stock option not working

When i try to uncheck the out of stock option box (site preferences) and press apply it sends me to a oops page. The box remains un-checked and then reverts back to checked every day. So now i have hundreds of unwanted, sold listings as active listings with 0 stock and have to remove them one at a time- time consuming and unnecessary.

I e-mailed ebay 4 times and each time they un-checked the box and told me nothing is wrong. Finally, they wrote and said not to bother them again! 

Obviously a technical bug but the rudeness of customer service was beyond belief

Hello,

Just spent an hour with a rep. My items are not being deducted from the listing when it's selling.  This keep happening to me and the reps have no idea what they are talking about and they are in charge of fixing it ,IF YOU COULD EVEN IMAGINE THAT.  Sooo, they gave me below standard because of so many cancellations so I had to call them again to explain that it wasn't me.  Now there telling me that it has something to do with my settings.  I told they guy, ive been doing this for 11 yrs one way,  I've called six times and not one person told me, it's because of my settings.  If anyone has an answer please help me.
