When I try to list an item there is no option to add "Best Offer". It used to be there all the time. There was a box underneath to check or uncheck. Now there are no words "Best Offer" and no box. It disappeared. How do I get it back?

I did a search of the community, and turned this up:

Not exactly definitive, but that would indicate it's not a glitch, or a recent change in policy.

Are you listing using an app on a phone or tablet? If so they've moved it and you have to look for a button labelled "advanced options" or some such. I never list using a mobile device so that's based on other posts.
If you are creating the listing using a browser, make sure you are using the Advanced Listing tool, not the basic or "quick" listing tool. Ebay has removed a number of features from the quick listing tool and decides the defaults for you.

Thank you for your reply.
I always use the advanced listing tool. After some experimenting, it appears it is only happening in the "gift cards" category. I am still able to add it in the other categories. I know I have used "best offer" in the past for gift cards. Is this a new restriction for gift card listings?

That must be the case. I've not sold gift cards as it's outside my risk tolerance. I'm not seen any documentation about categories where Best Offer isn't available.

That is why I like to use "Best Offer". Sometimes I am able to weed out problem buyers by setting the price high and then reviewing the buyers feedback before accepting bids. It may not be the best method, but it is one method that I guess I no longer have access to using...

Me either. I am wondering if this is just a temporary glitch or a change in policy. Maybe somebody else will have the answer. If it keeps happening, I guess I'll have to call customer service.

If those transactions were more recent than 2014, then either there were multiple glitches, multiple policy changes, or some combination of the two. Or else there is something else different between the previous allowed transactions and the current apparently disallowed transaction. Different categories? Different payment methods (managed payments)? Phases of the moon?

Okay I did a little more experimenting. It appears that an item sold in Gift Cards & Coupons > Gift Certificates allows "Best Offer", but an item sold in Gift Cards & Coupons > Gift Cards does not allow "Best Offer". I believe it is possible that my older auctions were listed in the former category and that is why I was allowed to add "Best Offer".
It was after reading your comment that jarred a memory.
I will accept that answer because it seems to be the only thing that makes sense and the previous post supports that conclusion.
I think if "Best Offer" is not an option for gift cards, it should be written somewhere on the site.
Thank you both for your replies and have a good night.

Hi @dtexley3 ! While Best Offer is available in most categories, there are some categories that don't support this feature. I checked and confirmed that the Gift Cards category does not support Best Offer.
