EBAY, if you're listening, the new image viewing experience is awful. You seem to have removed the ability to pop the image out into a new window to view a full size image. That was far better than the new "magnified" image within a much smaller footprint on the item page. Please bring back the ability to pop out the full size image and then click through the set of images.

Hi @jimshow
I don't care for it either. If you hover your cursor int he upper right hand corner of the main pic a menu will appear, you can select the Thumbs down choice to indicate your displeasure. This feature definitely does not "enhance the Buying experience".

strange,,,
the enlarge (new window) circle/arrow is there in firefox
the enlarge (new window) circle/arrow is NOT there in Chrome (nothing except next/previous arrow)
The whole enchilida is there (like @mr_lincoln shows) in MS Edge....

Mr_lincoln, I do not have the hover menu option. I only see forward/back arrows and when I hover over the image and single click, the image "magnifies" within the confines of the standard image dimension on the page. NO HOVER OPTION!

Correct, I am not seeing this in Chrome.

FYI, In SAFARI on Mac, the old "opposing arrow" expansion icon is still there and still opens up a separate image viewer. This has been removed from Chrome as of 2 days ago. This option is a far superior viewing experience.SAFARI BROWSER

@jimshow - I am seeing a difference in Chrome vs FireFox as far as whether you get the option to expand the image or just magnify, so it does appear they may be testing something there.
Firefox
Chrome
The hover menu is something Microsoft has added to Edge that appears when viewing other sites too and is not specifically an eBay thing or something eBay has anything to do with.

Thank you so much for sharing! I opened my first listing and ticked 'thumbs down/does not enhance'... who knew?
Should I make it a habit to do this to all listings I view, and should I do it to my own 150 or so other listings? 🤔

@mtgraves7984 you should definitely click the thumbs down if you don't like it, but be aware that feedback is going to Microsoft not eBay because that hover menu is something they have added to the Edge browsing experience and you'll see it when shopping on Amazon and other sites as well.

For clarity, I am using Chrome on Mac. The old "expand" icon on the main image (two opposing arrows) was there for me on Chrome/Mac two days ago, but it is gone now.
The "expand" icon still remains on Safari/Mac and I am still able to open the old Image browser same as before.
I have no idea what Edge is and see nothing like what Mr_Lincoln has shown in his images on any of my Mac browsers.
This seems to be a Chrome bug and I would really like Ebay to fix it ASAP.

@jimshow yes, there are multiple things going on here so that's why I posted what I did to try to help clear up the confusion. 😊
What you are talking about with the "expand" function vs only being able to "magnify" is an eBay issue and is likely a test they may be running, not a bug.
What Mr Lincoln is talking about with the additional functionality in a "hover menu" is something that Microsoft has added to their Edge browser and shows up on other sites like Amazon and others you may visit as well if you are using that browser.
That is not an eBay issue - eBay is not the one adding or controling anything about the "hover menu" and if you click the thumbs down as shown in Mr Lincoln's screenshot, that is going to Microsoft, not eBay.

Understood, thank you for the info.
I only use Chrome on mac and was wondering what was happening over the past few days as the "expand" icon started disappearing from listings and this morning I realized it was completely gone... replaced with a far inferior "magnifying glass" experience with no option to pop out the full size image.
I hope this is temporary. Thanks again.

Along with the rest of eBay for myself, picture display changes with the wind direction. I never know what to expect.
My wish is that eBay remain stable for at least a week or two. That would make a big difference to customers.

As of today I no longer have the option to expand the image to a full size slideshow either. I use firefox, so the feature appears to no longer be available for firefox users.
I have also been sending in feedback for the change in features. Its hard to find good language to describe the complain, I have been writing the following under feedback-
There has been a recent change on this page where I am no longer able to view images as a full size image slideshow. The icon allowing me to access this feature (shown in the upper right hand corner of images) is no longer showing up on the page. I do not like that you have removed this feature, I need it to be able to view images for accessibility reasons.
I find it much more difficult to look at images with only the new zoom feature, as it never displays the full image and the motion of the image while zoomed in is disorienting to me. It would be much better to be able to view full size images that are stagnant rather then moving.

There is no limit to the number of thumbs down you give. Whoever needs to see the thumbs down will do so ... be that eBay or Microsoft ...
