Need techie help with HTML links in 600 listings. EBAY says can't help.

For a few years my store ID was fill_your_closets_from_my_store  using all the underscores.  It was difficult finding my store using the advanced search and so I changed the ID removing all the underscores. After a few weeks, I noticed that none of the links I use in my listings worked........because they are the original links to the former store like SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS and CHECK OUT MY FEEDBACK. I called EBAY to ask how to change my links to direct buyers to the new store ID instead of the red box that comes up saying that there is no such ID.  I'm convinced that my sales declined because my listing links don't work and I look like a bogus seller! but EBAY says they don't know how to create the HTML links that are in my listings and can't help.

Does anyone out there in computerland know how to do this?  My last resort will be to eliminate all the links in my listings. HELP!!

When you create a listing, you have the option of adding an EBAY link to your other listings and/or your feedbacks. At that time, the links correctly take you to the store you are listing under. But when I changed the store ID, those same links became void and I don't know how to insert HTMLs to correct the links to the new store ID.  You would think that EBAY would be able to assist.......then again.....not surprised at all!

Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about?  Help................sales are dropping!

All of those links are already on your listings, in the section about the seller at the top right. It isn't really necessary to have them in your description.

But here are the URLs that you need. Paste these in to replace the URLs you have in your HTML code now. The only real difference is no underscores.

your other listings:

your feedback page:

your store:

I don't think eBay has the capability of editing HTML in bulk. You would have to edit the HTML link manually for your listings. If not a lot of listings to edit, that would be feasible. I've done it before with my listings. Since you have 600 listings to edit, I suggest using a third party editing tool like CrazyLister, create a listing template, then apply the template to all your listings.

You'll probably have to update the listings one at a time.

Have a great day.

yep, you want to "find and replace" in the description........and you can do it in bulk edit.........

Two caveats.....if you've never done it before, understand that you have to copy/past the exact phrase.  you can replace it with nothing or with a phrase/link.  If that phrase changed over the years......you'll have to do multiple edits......

Be SURE you attempt it at first with just a couple of listings..and never with more than 200 at a time.

If you don't know bulk edit,  repost and I'll give you complete instructions

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t know this was possible in bulk edit. Never been a fan of eBay’s bulk edit, so haven’t really used it much. I could definitely use this Find & Replace tool in the future.

Listen guys and girls..........thank you all for your input......let me clarify.......I know how to do bulk changes and find and replace. What I don't know is how to create the html for the links I need to redirect (other items and feedback score and the new store home page).

What do I use for these 3 NEW links for the NEW store? How do I create them?

Thank you lacemaker3 for sending the links I needed! Now I can start to make the changes to 600 listings! I see a few hours in my future to do it, but at least the legitimate links will keep me from looking like a bugus seller. Yes the only difference in links is the use of underscores.........but that little difference was popping up red warning boxes to buyers.

And yes, I know that the same links are in the box at the top of listings, but with most buyers using mobile apps, it can be difficult to move around and see everything on a mobile listing that is easily seen on a desktop listing which is why I add them to the description. You wouldn't believe the number of mobile users who keep asking me for measurements of clothes because they don't open the full Item Description arrow on the mobile app. I always have complete/multiple measurements on clothing listings and it never fails..........sad but true!

Thanks again for your help!

Sorry lacemaker3.........that's not quite the answer for me anyway. I need to be able to replace Check out my other items! with the OTHER ITEMS as a link changed to my new names store. I just want to see OTHER ITEMS as a link and not
https://www.ebay.com/sch/fillyourclosetsfrommystore/.
In the old days, when creating a listing, there was a drop down in the description box to include OTHER ITEMS as a link without all the www stuff. So do you know how to do that?

As far as I recall, the drop down inserts were removed years ago.

SInce I haven't actively listed for quite a while, I don't know how to do this without editing the HTMLcode ...

oh, wait ... maybe I'm making this too difficult ...

@fillyourclosetsfrommystore, try copying the line below (highlight the line and press Ctrl-C) and pasting it (Ctrl-V) into your description where you want the link, when  you are making the listing (on the Sell your Item page).

However ... although it is still allowed, eBay actually prefers that you NOT put links and extra stuff like this in the description anymore. The Description Policy says that the description should only include information that is directly related to the item being sold (not other items), or to your terms and conditions (which are not enforceable unless they are the same as eBay's terms, so this is not advisable either).

All of these links are already on the listing, and are consistently shown the same way and in the same place on all listings, and eBay says that buyers prefer it like that. Anything that lengthens or complicates the description tends not to display very well on a small screen like a smartphone or tablet.

Well actually editing the HTML is what I was looking for because that would put the link to the words instead of using WWW........ but I agree that it would be better to just remove all the extras. You are right about eBay not enforcing what rules you may have for selling anyway. And no matter what is in the description, buyers will inevitably ask the same questions anyway because they don't know how to navigate the listings on their small screens. The arrows to open some pages are not always easily visible. I always add 4+ measurements to clothes and will inevitably get measurement questions because they can't find them....looks like you've had your issues with eBay as well.........oh well, thanks for writing.

The drop-down inserts are still available on the listing form, but you would have to click the "advanced" link to the right on the editor to display the full toolbar with the "Insert" option. You would then "create a custom template" for each custom link. eBay will now store up to 10 custom inserts. The code that can be added to each "Insert" is limited to 4000 characters (measured in HTML view).
