MIA for over 24 hours.  If you look in your active listings on the seller hub page the categories still exist and you can search for inventory.  Personally I don't think many people even come to my store.  It's more for me to organize the goods.

I imagine this is temporary. All my categories are still in my manage store area.  My regular customers are smart and will find the coin r matchbook cover they need without store categories.

I'm glad/relieved/whatever to see a seller post this. As a buyer, I really dislike visiting a store. I'll look through a seller's listings, but not visit a store. No particular objection--I just don't like the way they're set up.

Thankfully the store categories popped back into place.  This was a non-event.  As far as people who don't like entering sellers' stores each to his own.  My store billboard is where I post the most pertinent info to my regular buyers.  It is where you can find the inside scoop on discounts, how my seasonal sales run and other tidbits of wisdom from over six decades of life.

@eleanor*rigby

I'm intrigued by your comment.    How do you go about looking through a thousand listings if you are seeking a specific type of thing, for example?  I realize you can search for something, assuming the feature is working, but for me at least, if a store is well-organized by category and I was shopping for baby clothes or history books and just wanted to see those types of things that particular store had, but not a specific title or outfit name that I could search for, I could easily do that by using categories.    As a buyer, if I go to someone's store and they have no categories I maybe get as far as page one but never beyond.    🤔

I don't look through a thousand listings. I use the regular, good ol' search field for specific search terms--and I use "All Categories," unless I'm searching for a specific book. Works fine for me. I don't use eBay just to browse for whatever might catch my eye. I search for specific items that have names or brands or whatnot. If I'm looking for a specific piece of Nordic Ware bakeware, for example, I type in "Nordic Ware Autumn Loaf Pan." I don't use eBay to look for just some random piece of bakeware. That's just not the kind of shopper I am.

If I find that piece of Nordic Ware offered by a specific seller, I will quite often look at the seller's other listings, but, as I said earlier, I won't look at a store and I won't wade through 1,000 listings. Since I've already found what I want (the Nordic Ware Autumn Loaf Pan), I just put that in my cart and checkout. I will also take a look at the other listings that eBay shows me or recommends that might be similar to or relate to the item listing I'm viewing.

Again, that's just how I shop online. It's not like wandering through a department store or shopping mall for me--which I don't do either, I guess. 😀

That's probably why you and I have different experiences and opinions on how we prefer to use eBay. Thank goodness we all shop differently, or it would be a pretty boring website!

@eleanor*rigby   Thanks for the thorough reply.  I appreciate hearing your views very much.  As a seller in a specific niche (homeschooling, and therefore children's educational media products basically) I think my average buyer does "shop" in the store categories as well as doing specific searches on eBay itself of course.    We will all always do that I think, but I have additionally relied heavily on the store shopping experience for my buyers as well.  Anyway, thanks for your insights.
