My solution to ebay pages not displaying correctly

If your ebay pages aren't displaying properly in the UK since around 7th November, like it was for me, it could well be a problem with a web safety mechanism such as Virgin Media's.

To fix it for now, I:

1. Went into  Virgin Media websafe settings https://my.virginmedia.com/my-apps/onlinesecurity/websafe/settings
2. Select the "Websites" tab about halfway down the screen.
3. Added ir.ebaystatic.com to "Allowed Websites".
4. Clicked Apply.

Instantly I was able to refresh my ebay page and it loaded correctly.

If you aren't using Virgin Media (or not using it directly) then you may simply need to disable your web safe protection until they get it sorted.

For those who are curious as to how I worked out which website to allow, in Chrome I browsed to ebay, pressed ctrl-shift-i and looked at the red text at the bottom of the screen where I saw SSL complaints about ir.ebaystatic.com, which is sort of how the Virgin Media childsafe mechanism works.

Thanks for that, I'm having problems too and I'm also with virgin media. When I tried doing what you suggested I got this (see attached screenshot).

I think you may have some space characters at the beginning or end of that - I could reproduce your problem if I put a space at the start of the line.

Thank you very much, worked for me.  Was worried whether whitelisting this site will create some security problems but desperate to solve these Ebay issues.  I saw Talktalk users also have this problem so must be poor programming on the Ebay web.  This suddenly started happening within last few days and only on Ebay site, I have not experienced other websites have similar issue.

No problems - pleased it helped. There should be no risk to you by whitelisting that site in your childsafe settings as, in the unlikely event there was a threat found there, your browsers safety features all still apply, so you aren't allowing it to do anything that any other website can't do.

Hi, A Million thanks for your advice, I have been pulling my hair out for last 3 days, the site would not load properly, I went on chat line at eBay, then on the phone call back service,  they were not much help sad to say. AAh thanks so much, read this solution yesterday and tried to enter just ebay.co.uk  and didn't work, today I entered 'ir.ebaystatic.com '  the way you posted and it works. 

It should be bloody Ebay's duty to find us a solution

Thank you so much.  At last, I have eBay back after 4 days of it being out of action.  Putting ir.ebaystatic.com in didn't work for me but when I put ebay.co.uk in, it did.  Thank you

Can anyone advise.

My ebay is still big arrows, and a total mess! The screen is empty spaces and noting in order. I have tried the child lock and still not working. Its been like this since Saturday past.

Also my ebay sales will not import from my Hermes website (they never seem to import) So i can't send orders out that way either.

I was only able to log on in phone, see the delivery address and manual added each sale which take forever and not that handy trying to add tracking.

Please tell me there is a way round this. Seems impossible to contact ebay on this as i cant log in.
