Today I had two large combined orders. I have used the Orders info to figure out the tax eBay is collecting. However when I sent invoices to my buyers I saw that the totals were different.
Example 1: Sale of 33 postcards
Orders: Qty 33, Sold for $14.26, Total $15.72 ($15.72 - $14.26 = $1.46 tax)
Invoice: Subtotal $14.26, S+H $0.00, Total $15.29 ($15.29 - 14.26 = $1.03 tax)
Note: I went to Expenses for this order and the Final Value Fees calculated individually by postcard added up to $1.75 + $.30 = $2.05 eBay fee This matches the Invoice Total: $15.29 x .115 = $1.75 FVF + $.30 = $2.05 eBay fee. So it appears the Total in Orders awaiting shipment, Orders awaiting payment, and All orders can be incorrect some of the time. It looks like I'll need to look at Invoices to get an accurate sales tax.
Example 2: Sale of 15 postcards
Orders: Qty 15, Sold for $12.95, Total $13.95 ($13.95 - $12.95 = $1.00 tax)
Invoice: Subtotal $12.95, S+H $.00, Total $13.99 ($13.99 - 12.95 = $1.04 tax)
The Total should always be the same!
