Did you mean:

Long search strings are broken!

1. Open any web browser

2. Perform a search with a long search string, for example:
beta (ancestral, ankh, moon, badlands, balance, bayou, berserk, lotus, blaze, braingeyser, camouflage, castle, chaos, chaoslace, cockatrice, consecrate, “copy artifact”, crusade, tomb, darkpact, “death ward”, attorney) -hp -pld -mp -sp -lp -ex -moderate -heavy -dmg -damaged -ce -ie -light -slight -pl -played

3. Open the first 10 items returned by the search in a new tab (e.g. middle click).  The URLs will look something like this:

ebay.com/itm/195935766812?hash=item2d9eae891c%3Ag%3A3OUAAOSwlZJk2sE3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAACAMlcelyqon...

Result:

Some of the items display an error:

"This listing (#) has been removed, or this item is not available."

Notes:

- Deleting the 'hash' parameter in the URL fixes the problem

- This started about 2 months ago

- It happens in every browser

It seems the problem is with the long 'hash' parameter in the URL, which I am guessing includes an encoded version of the search string for tracker purposes.

The site is essentially broken for me - I can't search with shorter URLs, and I view hundreds of items a day, so manually deleting the 'hash' from the URL is not a feasible workaround.

Please fix this   😞

Long search strings are broken!

If searches with many search terms are causing problems, until eBay changes how the search works you may have to shorten your search URLs.

Try splitting large searches into two smaller searches, like this:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=beta+(ancestral%2Cankh%2Cmoon%2Cbadlands%2Cbalance%2C...

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=beta+(chaos%2Cchaoslace%2Ccockatrice%2Cconsecrate%2C%...
