Just received an email from a customer questioning why I am trying to charge over 30 dollars for shipping for an Item I'm selling. I checked said item and realized this was incorrect. I have it setup as 1 to 2 pounds priority USPS calculated shipping and the customer is in the lower 48. Worst case a package of this weight (a woman's purse) should be no more than 10.00 regardless of zip code.
alan@ebay ; trinton@ebay If you can please review to see if maybe there is a possible issue with shipping calculations

The problem is that the buyer isn't going to buy if they see a shipping cost of $33. The seller's ability to purchase the correct postage after the fact isn't going to motivate the buyer.

Re "But the dimensions of the item are NOT known by eBay!!!"
My description of a CORRECTLY coded and functioning shipping calculator was in response to the previous post wherein the poster claimed this was impossible; I was NOT referring to eBay's shipping calculator which is a pathetic excuse for a shipping calculator.
Re "eBay only knows ... the size of the SHIPPING container being used."
Because the person(s) who coded eBay's shipping calculator should be fired from eBay and banned for life from having anything to do with computers.

Re "The problem is that the buyer isn't going to buy if they see a shipping cost of $33."
Which is why sellers lose sales, which also affects eBay's bottom line... But eBay is too busy making "improvements" to address critical site functionality like the shipping calculator.
There's sort of a similar issue with "Best Offer" wherein sellers cannot modify shipping when responding with an offer or making a counteroffer; whatever crazy shipping rate(s) eBay's moronic calculator spits out is what the buyer sees. Buyers have to accept the offer and then request an invoice, or wait for the seller to update shipping, to complete the transaction. This is utterly moronic and it reflects the brain capacity of whoever is behind the site functionality.

FWIW, I just posted additional examples of similar issues in my "eBay Shipping Calculator is hopelessly broken..." thread.

"And eBay will tell you to resolve this problem, just offer free shipping"
Yeah, another glorious example of eBay-moronity. LMNYAO! "Why is the cork on the fork?"
Ever watch the movie "Idiocracy" -- it's not a comedy, it's an eBay documentary...
"Electrolytes" are what sellers and buyers crave!
