A potential buyer contacted our brick and mortar store saying that they tried to purchase books from us on eBay. This buyer is located in the same state we are (Illinois) and these are perfectly normal books- nothing unusual or that should be flagged. The listing has been up for ages. He received an automated message from eBay saying that the item cannot be sold to buyers in the state of Illinois. (We definitely lost the sale- he went on Amazon and bought the books from another seller there- he didn't even buy from our Amazon store!) I found a thread from 2015 addressing this issue but not offering real solutions. In thinking about it, we have very few buyers from Illinois- is it because eBay is telling them we cannot sell them our items? Is anyone else experiencing this? It's scary to think how many sales may be lost due to eBay sending this erroneous message.
