Invalid Item number - Contact Seller

I am trying to contact a seller about a completed purchase. From the "Order Details" page I click "Contact the seller" and this takes me to the "Contact Seller __" page, with the item number pre-filled. On page load it already says "Invalid item number, please try again." before I even click anything.

If I try to enter the number again, manually, I get the same error.

If I choose the "Select an item" option instead, I can successfully pick my item, but then when clicking "Continue" it switches back to the "Enter item number" option with the item number pre-filled and the "Invalid item number, please try again." error message.

Did Ebay remove the item?

Is it a recent item you ordered?

eBay did not remove the item, especially as I can select it from the "Select an item" menu on the "Contact Seller ___" page. Yes, the order is recent; about a week ago.

Attempting to choose the only other option "This is not about an item", I get "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later." Upon further inspection it's probably because the seller shows as "No longer a registered user".

So perhaps that's why the other options are failing too, despite the error message being very misleading.

Did you figure this out? I'm afraid I got scammed in the same way as well
