TECHNICAL ISSUE:

My latest sale was for NY.

The packing slip shows NY Sales Tax was paid for just the item.

The buyer paid .94.

-

But the order detail page shows the NY Sales Tax as $1.34 which is the correct amount that

should have been paid.

This is correct because tax was charged for the shipping in addition to the item.

There seems to have been and maybe still is this issue with Ohio - according to another discussion.

Hopefully eBay can fix this glitch.

Just happened again!

Collected $1.56 instead of $2.22.

Wrong on Packing Slip and Correct amount on the Order Detail Page -

same as this morning.

Hi @amyo48, I checked the details of your most recent sale to New York and I see the tax applied properly for both the item price and the shipping, as you have set up in your Tax Table. Can you tell me where you are seeing the incorrect amount? When I look at the order details and the payment information, I saw the correct amount. Happy to look into this further with you with a little more detail!

It looks like the old packing slip "not charging tax on s&H incorrect tax" issue rearing its head again.

Hi,

As stated in my first message:

The correct amount is shown on the detail page but not on the Packing Slip or Invoice.

Both of my customers paid the lower amount - they did not pay for the tax on the shipping.

This can be seen on the orders page as well.

Hello again,

4 attached snips:

'taxes paid' photo does show that the 2nd order amount is $29.91 but if you click into this you will see that the amount paid was $29.25 as per printed Packing Slip.

The 1st order shows the charge of $17.98 but click into this and $17.58 comes up.

I checked Pay Pal and the correct amount of tax was paid.

However the 2 Packing Slips that were mailed with the purchases have the wrong amounts on them!

Uh, you are invoicing the buyers and they are paying from the invoice?

You aren't checking the "also charge sales tax on s&h" box so it isn't charging sales tax on the s&h.

I'm confused. If your global tax table site settings or per listing settings ARE set to charge tax on s&h then it looks like the invoice flow is dropping the ball and defaulting to not charge tax on s&h. (but if you are sending the invoices you could check the box and it should charge the correct tax)

No I seldom invoice a buyer and for years the tax amount has been correct - charging tax for the shipping fee.

As per your 1st message there is a glitch with at least the packing slip!

I just realized what you saw - the snip shows a box not clicked for shipping & handling but I have changed nothing and the correct amount shows in Pay Pal.

Now I am confused as well.

I just went to the Sales Tax Table and the box for shipping & handling was checked as it has been since I first started collecting Sales Tax.

So this problem is indeed a tech glitch somewhere.

IIRC that was an ongoing issue last year where the packing slips behaved as you indicate.

(I think the thread was on the Powerseller board to which I no longer have access due to insufficient sales volume 😞

Only thing I can suggest might be to bulk edit your listings and force the settings that way (8% NY tax + apply to s&h) which should? override the tax tables.

Maybe? Don't use tax tables myself and not sure if that unticks any tax table box in the listings or if tax tables are enabled that individual listing tax options are not present).

I really have no way to test anything so I am going to hope that eBay techs

fix the problem before I have another NY sale.

It's still happening in Ohio too. Sales tax is calculated and charged to the buyer correctly on item price and shipping/handling. Packing slip actually shows that tax was only charged on the item price. This has been going on since summer.....
