I Still Cannot Rename My Custom List

I am trying to change a custom list name to something else, not a sellers list but "Watchlist" type of list, and there is no way to do it any more; even when I go into the beta format it goes into the new format.

Anyone know something I don't know?

Serious replies please.

It appears that eBay has changed their links so that the old technique of loading the old list format from an item page banner does not work any more; that link now points to the new format of the list, which lacks the capability to rename an existing list.

Incidentally, if anyone has bookmarked any of their non-watchlist or non-wishlist custom lists in the old format, please post; I may be able to provide a way to turn that link into something that allows access to the old list format for other lists by changing the URL.

Currently your best bet for renaming a list may be to create a new list with the name you want, and then moving items from the old list to the new list. Then you can delete the old list if you want.

Thank you. It figures eBay would create a Community Board and read it just to find out what we are up to and put a stop to it. I'll adjust but I think we all should bombard them with request to fix that problem because they believe the long way is the right way.

Just like reorganizing a list; you have to select and remove the item from the list and re-add them in the new order you want when a simple "drag and drop" up or down the list should be the way but not to eBay.

Depending on the size of your list and the number of items per page, you should be able to quickly move the items to another list in one fell swoop by clicking the checkbox next to the "add to list" button at the top of your list page -- this should select all the items on the page -- and then clicking that "add to list" button.

I know what you mean by creating a new list with the new name and then delete the old list which is good for renaming the list, but what I was referring to in the second part was every time you add a new item to the list the new item is at the top pushing the previous first item to second and so on.

So if you like the list name but just want to do some rearranging like the 5th item to the 3rd place and the 2nd item into the 9th place and so on, currently you can't put it in that order or any other order without removing them from the list and then replacing them in the new order you want and it shouldn't be that difficult.

Ah. It sounds like you are sorting your list by "most recently added" -- if that is the case, and you also want to move an item to the top of your list, you will have to remove it and add it again.

I usually sort my lists by "ending soonest" so I can keep track of any auctions that are ending that I may want to bid on. As more listings are now Good Til Cancelled, the sort order of those items does not matter as much to me, as long as I can find them when I need to.

Re: I Still Cannot Rename My Custom List

I know what you mean by "most recently added" but no matter which option I use if I don't like the order and I want the last item to be the first item I should be able to change it so to me a "Custom" option is missing.

Amazon has it where you can slide or drag the item in your list up or down where you want it. The only thing it will not allow you to do is move it from page to page under the same list but it's better than eBay's "we control; no custom for you".

I'm sorry I can't help you in this regard. However, I wish you a solution soon.

I renamed a list by creating a new list but how do I delete the old list?

There should be a delete button on the right side of the page opposite the list heading. Once you are sure you have moved all the items on your list successfully, you should be able to delete the list.

Thank you, I found it. Originally I was looking for it under Watchlist but that's the default list that's not removable.

I hope they don't take that away.
