Handling Time Set Incorrectly when editing from Android App

This is easily reproducible:

1. Make a listing from web, and set the handling time to 40 business days.

2. On the Android app - edit the listing. Note that the draft will state 40 business day handling.
3. Press "Revise It".

4. Observe that the listing now actually reflects 3 business day handling. You would be entirely unaware of this change unless you went back to your published listing and reviewed it.

You can reproduce it by also editing a listing from web to 40 days, and then performing steps 2-4 again.

I had a late shipping defect for this a long time ago. I wasn't sure how it happened, but now I know. I just recently made a listing for a presale with 40 business day handling. I sold 1 unit. I then revised my listing from mobile, and it automatically reverted my handling time to 3 days, unbeknownst to me. I then sold 2 more units - which reflect as being shipped out within the next few days. I am now going to be receiving a couple more late shipment defects due to this bug. I am at a loss at what to do as I take great pride in my top seller rating.

Are you using the latest version of the app @primoplug ? If not I suggest updating.

I'm also going to tag @mobile_feedback and elizabeth@ebay on this one to see if they have any info to share.

Handling Time Set Incorrectly when editing from Android App

HI @wastingtime101 - thank you for your reply.

I just updated the app and tested the edit path:

1. On web, updated listing, https://www.ebay.com/itm/175937936157, to 40 business day handling time.
2. Opened mobile app, from my Selling page, used the "Revise" option on the listing in question.
3. Scrolled down, observed "40 days" in the handling time field under "Preferences". Made no modifications at all to the listing. Pressed "Revise it".

4. Refreshed listing on web, observed that it automatically changed to 3 day handling time.

Android app version: 6.129.1.1

Phone: Samsung Z Flip5, Android 13

I am an Android application developer myself. So I think I can hazard a guess:

The client code doesn't have a definition for 40 days option (you can also observe the lack of 40 days option in the dropdown from mobile app). So when it goes to make the request to revise the listing, it defaulted to the 3-day value in the edit request to backend.

Known workaround:

Using policies instead. I don't have any set up - but I can assume that the backend request might not leverage any of these parameters directly if a policy is set up - but rather - backend probably looks at some policy identifier instead at that point.

One of the many reasons I encourage sellers to try using business policies. It gets around a lot of limitations that sellers face when they don't use biz policies.

Thanks for the thorough analysis. Hopefully the eBay reps I tagged can take that back to the mobile team.

Edit: By the way, the 40 biz day handling time option was just added maybe a year and a half ago? So it's possible the app team never programmed that in figuring most app users would be casual sellers that didn't need it. 🤷

Thank you for the tag @wastingtime101 and thank you for bringing this to our attention @primoplug. Let me get this over to our mobile team to investigate it further. I'll touch base shortly.

Right - I know it was relatively new, so I figured that's likely the case!
