Gift cards are attached to the account used to make the purchase. If you were refunded, the amount would go back on the gift card tied to your account and you will see the gift card balance when you add an item to your cart and go through the checkout process.

Did you keep the card or the number (and PIN)? You can check that online, the balance should reflect the refund. If you still have a physical gift card it should have a ph# and/or website to check balances.
*to add* Gift cards are administered by some bank that holds the funds in an "account" (meaning that card) as a kind of credit due. It's not ebay. You need to check whatever processor issued the card.

Not if it's an eBay gift card @annadryl . eBay removed the balance checker recently. Now the only way to see the balance is to add the card to your account, and once it's added it can't be removed. I assume this change was made to combat fraud.
The buyer should see the balance on the checkout page as I mentioned above. 🙂

You can add eBay gift cards to your account using our Add Gift Card page. Balances of all eBay gift cards are visible on the eBay checkout page under the Gift cards and coupons section.
