Help. I spent HOURs on the phone yesterday w/different ebay CS folks with no resolution to this. I went to do some work on my husband's account "merzies". For some reason it was asking us to re-login. Tried logging in and got the message:
Now, it gives me two options to resent ... 1) email merzies email or 2) text code. I tried both of these options a minimum of 6 times each. I NEVER received an email to the account email address on file OR I couldn't text with anyone as I kept getting a popup window (and I double-checked JaveScript was selected - all fine). I have used chat MANY times before with no prob:

Trying to use chat for the above and get:

Pardon Our Interruption...
As you were browsing eBay, something about your browser made us think you were a bot. There are a few reasons this might happen:
So, before I hung up the CS rep said they could see others were having this problem so IT must be working on it and are aware of it (though searching community/announcements nothing shows up). Don't be surprised if this gets fixed before I get an email that this was taken care of - they thought. Give it at least 24 hours to clear up ... or may 48 hours ... or maybe 72 hours or longer. They also said that I would probably NOT get a follow up email on the resolution though I may. After spending almost 4 HOURs on the phone with multiple CS reps yesterday, the last thing I want to do is have to call eBay again.
.
Background on device: using Chrome with W10 on laptop; tried open window incognito with no luck; cleared all cache/history; closed and opened etc. the browser multiple times; updated and ran virus scan just in case something was there causing this - not; double-checked JavaScript settings and all a-ok; restarted my laptop multiple times; still able to log in fine on hubby's account so the issue is the log-in on my account "merzies".
HELP oh please and thank you in advance.

Regarding the "Pardon Our Interruption" message -- try another browser to rule out browser issues. That message comes from a third party service that eBay uses to prevent bots from scraping content from the site. In some cases, the service changes settings and some browsers may set off a false positive reading. Using another browser such as Firefox may bypass the issue.
Try going to ebay.com and signing in there rather than using a bookmarked link.
If you are unable to sign in and resetting your password is not working, it is possible that your account has been hijacked and the hijacker has changed your contact information to the hijackers email or text number.
Try contacting eBay via this page for account security issues:

Hi, thank you. I went and used "Microsoft Edge" and came up with exactly the same issues. I've never used this browser before so there is no history or cache. I opened a browser in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge and typed in http://www.ebay.com and then clicked on login - no luck - exact same issue.
I already spent hours with an ebay CS person yesterday - HOURs, and all they came back with other folks are having the same issue. They verified everything about this account so I would think if somebody else's info is there they would have clearly seen it. Very frustrating. All the issues I have been having started on AUGUST 21, 2021. I've been with ebay since 1999 and never had issues like this, ugh.
I'm soooo unhappy that it looks like I have to call eBay again - never know if anyone can actually help me at this point. THX again

Hi, thank you to replies on this. All suggestions were tried more than once (see comment above) - called ebay Customer Service AGAIN with HOURs on the phone and NO RESOLUTION other than, AGAIN, they would pass on to IT (ticket #1-381805423764) as they could see others were having similar issues. They figured it would probably resolve itself in 24-48 hours but either way I would most likely get an IT update on this (as all other conversations ago also said) - it has now been 72 hours and nada. I have never heard from anybody and I still can't log into my account.
My assumption is eBay's customer service & IT issues do not competent people to resolve this issue. They try to help me and then just try and dump my call by saying they will pass the issue on to IT and it should be resolved. I now have orders I can't even cancel or contact due to not being able to log in. This issue all started hours after I hung up from hours on the phone with an eBay Customer Service person so it is clearly on eBays end this happened. Not a happy camper ...

Seems this little bug has still not been resolved. Along withy many many other 'little' bugs that appear to be happening more and more.
I have just been round the f**king 'temporary locked account, reset password, temporary locked account, reset password, temporary locked account, reset password, temporary locked account, reset password, click the capture bus images, temporary locked account, reset password, temporary locked account, reset password, temporary locked account, reset password' loop on three different machines/browsers now.
Pathetic. EBay increases its charges yet doesnt invest in decent site testing. Time for another online trading site I think.

If eBay keeps locking your account, it may be because eBay has noticed something that eBay thinks is suspicious, and eBay is reacting to protect your account.
Perhaps it is just something innocent you are doing that has triggered this such as using a VPN that obscures your location, or signing in from an unfamiliar location, or trying to change your password on a foreign site.
If you are not doing anything to trigger those locks and resets, perhaps someone else is. Perhaps someone in another location is attempting to sign in to your account -- or even succeeding. If that is happening, eBay locking your account to prevent it from being hijacked is actually a good thing.

Love the positivity but the problem here is not that the account is being locked. It's that their password reset feature isn't working as designed/it should......

If you are unable to reset your password via text or email, or to sign in via social media you will have to contact eBay directly for help.
