Scammers would rather "get away with it" than take credit, so it is unlikely you will be able to find the origin of any particular successful scam.
Knowing the origin of a scam technique is unlikely to be helpful unless you are writing a book about scams, as successful scams are quickly copied and modified by other scammers, and tend to be products of constant evolution and ongoing collaboration rather than a singular event with a clearly identifiable "origin".
