Errors in bulk listings

I checked out a couple of your listings, saw nothing offhand out of place, but when I saw all the Vendio stuff, I made another check.

http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentScanner.htm

1378 out of 1922 of your active listings have what I believe are now fatal problems - non-eBay links in your descriptions.

I don't know for sure if eBay is prohibiting listing at all when active content, etc is encountered, but I believe so, and it may be that that is why the bulk editor is balking (it isn't giving you specific failure messages for those problems). Maybe eBay finally flipped a switch for you and instead of emailing warnings just made them fail to relist.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can use that tool to scan ended listings, which means that if that is the issue, unless it is a simple thing common to all the listings (like a link to something not an image or css on the Vendio site) that you can bulk edit out, you'll have to fix them one by one.

And it turns out that may be the case.

You have what looks like a clickable tracking link in at least the one flagged listing I checked (262459887621)

<a class="textLink" target="_blank" href="https://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/viewimage.x/00000000/
tvyps/hotelsothon.JPG?vvid=52528071&amp;allow_mailing_list=1&amp;allow_track_link=1&amp;track=
027e76f038-b4e57&amp;sp=1&amp;vsid=1&amp;vgp=0" multilinks-noscroll="true"><font size="1"
face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br><br></font></a>

it's the only thing I can find in there that might have triggered the ISDNTek flagging, and may be what is causing the bulk editor to balk if it is also present in your ended listings.

If so, this isn't an eBay bug or problem - it would be a "you" problem.

Let's call in the expert cavalry @shipscript   (the author of that tool - she knows this stuff)

Summary:

It looks like there are non-eBay links in 75% of your active listings, and would likely also be present in your ended listings that you are trying to relist. Speculation is that the eBay bulk editor might be refusing to relist based on that (IIRC, the individual listing editor throws a red warning when active content is encountered and will not allow the listing or relisting. The bulk editor may also be doing so now that the year? long grace period is over)

Errors in bulk listings

I'm having the same problem except it won't show what the errors are.  I've looked closely at some of the listings that supposedly have errors and can't see any so I dunno....

Sounds like a possible bug/glitch in the bulk editor.

What is unusual about the listings, if anything?

Are they variation listings? Bulk has been having problems with variation listings for quite a while.

Also, what browser are you using and did you try it with another browser? (probably not it for this problem, but had to ask)

Errors in bulk listings

hi. nothing unusual, every one of my listings have this error so it isn't just the 2, that was just an example.  i do not use variations so that probably isn't it.  i've tried IE, Google and also just tried Firefox, also tried on my phone and none of them work.  It is starting to get irritating, it has been quite a while and takes a lot of time to list using this method.  i believe that the "scheduled" listings will list but i don't want to pay extra to use this service.

I am wondering if there is another way to use some sort of bulk listing so i can bypass this error i am getting?  Even an additional service i could add?

Thank you. Teri

eBay does not monitor these forums.

I am in the middle of composing another post in response to you, and I may have found the problem. Give me a minute.

Errors in bulk listings

I unfortunately can't test anything to see if I can make it fail as I don't have anything to relist that wouldn't be a duplicate listing, so, just going to toss things out there:

If this isn't what you are using, and eBay will allow you to use it:

(not sure if that is the old Selling Manager like seller hub page I see because I'm opted out of the new Seller Hub Orders page or if it the standard SH unsold page)

could also try unsolds here:
takes you to the same place using the BEAR editor, but maybe the different path getting there makes a difference.

or this:

That's what I normally use as I don't bulk relist, and can be pretty quick if you aren't editing and just want to relist. Go down the page, middle clicking (or whatever opens links in a new tab in your browser) on the blue Relist buttons and open about 10 (or whatever ) of them. Switch to the first tab, click on empty space on page to get focus out of title field, hit end key on keyboard to blast to page bottom, and click "List Item". Move to next tab and repeat (gives previous tab a chance to twirl and finish). Repeat for rest of tabs, then go back to first, verify success, and close. Repeat, and rinse.

It's actually a bit quicker for me because: I have some Stylish CSS running that makes the "List Item" and "Preview" links float along the left margin so I don't have to scroll to bottom of page to relist (or preview), and if I need to, my 8 button mouse has button 7 programed as the "End" key to go to page bottoms *and button 6 is "Home" key to go to page tops. I also run a custom Autohotkey script that transforms a mouse button right-click+left-click sequence into a "close tab" function for selected browser instances and as a close window function for specified desktop windows (like PDF reader windows, explorer windows, image viewer windows, etc - but not editor windows where a mis-click could lose hours of work)

There's also Turbo Lister - which is still working fine even on my Windows XP system (had to do the unsavory registry edit to make MS think my machine is a POS terminal to allow continued updates to update system with TLS1.2 capability and allow TL to still work 🙂

File Exchange would also be an option, and see a "Powered by File Exchange" on you active listings.

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/listing-and-marketing/ebay-bulk-listing-tools.html

Anyway, those are maybe some possible alternatives to get 'er done.

At this point it is unclear if it is a general bulk editor problem, maybe only affecting some accounts, or if it is a bulk editor problem being triggered by something about the listings and it isn't indicating the specific problem (return policies, GTC, now forbidden listing duration, active content or other HTTPS issues in the listings from external CSS or templates, etc). I see you are using Vendio, and there is a lot of "junk" there.

See next post.

While we wait for shipscript, maybe you could run some tests.

What happens if you try to revise item https://www.ebay.com/itm/262459887621 using the "one-off" listing editor?
(one of the non-eBay links items) Does it complain, or does it allow you to change something and submit?

What happens if you try to revise item https://www.ebay.com/itm/262459887623 using the "one-off" listing editor?
(one of the ones that scanned as ok) Does it complain, or does it allow you to change something and submit?

What happens if you try to bulk edit 262459887621 and 262459891842 and make some sort of change? (both are flagged with the non-eBay links) Does the bulk editor refuse?

What happens if you try to bulk edit 262459887623 and 262459887624, and make some sort of change? (both scanned as ok) Does the bulk editor refuse?

These are live listings that need bulk revisions?

When you revise individually, can you see which repairs are requested or handled by eBay?

It has been my experience that older mandates may need to be addressed before newer ones. The older mandates are the ones that were once grandfathered for GTC listings and might include category changes, image sizes, UPC, etc, while newer mandates might affect return policy, active content, links or contact info, and such.

Have you looked at eBay's bulk editor page where there is an option to display listings with recommendations or violations? The errors should be listed there for each item, and that should give you an idea of what fields you might need to bulk update first.

>>These are live listings that need bulk revisions?

My take on it from the verbiage in post #4 is that it's relists,

"... It is starting to get irritating, it has been quite a while and takes a lot of time to list using this method. i believe that the "scheduled" listings will list but i don't want to pay extra to use this service. ... I am wondering if there is another way to use some sort of bulk listing..."

Ended listings can be retrieved through eBay's File Exchange and can then be culled for items to relist. An attempt to relist through File Exchange will produce a failure report that includes reasons for the failures.  There will be the extra steps of culling listings and reading the reports, but perhaps that will shed more light if the reasons are not readily available on eBay's bulk relister.

If the problems lie with the item description and the violating links, those can be found and repaired by the Bulk Active Content Editor. The seller would need to produce the list of item numbers that will be relisted (from File Exchange or manually), and from that, the Bulk Active Content Editor can generate revised descriptions for upload through a File Exchange relist command.

These are scheduled listings. i have revised from there for years because pending listings were disappearing from the draft section. they are all scheduled in the future.  i add photos and launch from there.  when i revise individually, it does not show any errors and i am able to revise them, one at a time...which is time consuming.  this is happening with all my listings, i am not able to revise and launch any of them using the bulk tool.  There have been no changes as these have never been launched. there are no recommendations until i try to launch, then it throws this error.
