Ebay login weirdness

I’ve been on Ebay a very long time, but for some reason I suddenly am getting logged out at least daily, even though I have “stay signed in” checked.

When I log back in, I get a full-screen popup telling me to simplify my signin using facial recognition or passkeys. I can click “not now”, or navigate away from the page and come back and remain signed in, but a few hours later, I get the same thing. I noticed this nearly a year ago, but it has slowly been getting more and more frequent. Currently, it’s slightly more often than once a day.

It doesn’t seem to matter what device I’m using, or what browser. I don’t ever use the app, so I don’t know if it happens there.

Has anybody else noticed this, and what was the fix for it?

Thanks.

Have you changed anything about your network connection? Using a VPN or a hotspot? Using Starlink? Any new browser add-ons such as script-blockers? Using a cleaner program that deletes your browser cookies?

If you are not doing anything differently, perhaps eBay has noticed something someone else is doing with your account without your knowledge. Check your active sessions here:

Ebay login weirdness

My ISP uses a dynamic IP address.  That hasn't changed, as they always have for the last two years I've used them. This also happens at work, where they have a static IP address

I've noticed when I go to my son's house, and try logging in to my Ebay account, and only my Ebay account, gets locked and I am forced to call Ebay and provide a code to get it unlocked again.

I don't always use the same browser, at can vary between Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. It doesn't seem to make a difference.

I just checked the log using that link, and everything shows being logged in at my home city, thought other than a couple of random logins showing Safari, Edge, and Chrome, it says "unknown device". That pattern goes back for as long as I bothered looking.
