Ebay home page down, but says the rest of the site is working fine. I can't seem to access anything

I have many auctions ending tonight, I schedule them to end on Thurs night. I have had several buyers email and say they could not bid at the end of the auctions. Am I obligated to sell when Ebay was down again when my auctions are ending?

It is back up now, but my auctions have already ended without bidders being able to access them for the last 9 minutes.

Thursday night is eBay maintenance night and has been for more than 20 years. In the old days the site shut down COMPLETELY for 1 - 2 hours, now the site remains accessible at about the 50% level.

Years ago when I was using the Auction format I NEVER let them end on Thursday night (easy for 7 day listings, slightly more effort for 5 or 10 days).
