I have been on eBay for 16 years and am a top-rated seller. I list weekly high-dollar no-reserve auctions with only .77 opening bids that all end on a particular day each week. Much money is spent on these items. Since many like to bid at the end of an auction, which is best known as "sniping," the last few minutes of no-reserve auctions are crucial.
When I watched my auctions end today, some went offline just before they finished, and I noticed a message that reads: "This site can't be reached www.ebay.com unexpectedly closed the connection." As most of you know, having your high-dollar no-reserve items disappear at the end of the auctions is devastating, so I contacted eBay.
Ebay's representative told me: "...It looks like there is a known tech issue regarding this exact problem. Essentially, listings are being ended early because the system thinks you have reached your selling limits. According to our accounts team this is a known issue that our IT team is already working on. However, I'm looking to get your limits increased to help resolve this issue in the meantime. I can see the frustration, time and money this has cost you."
I lost much money this evening because a limit was put onto my account due to a "tech issue" that has nothing to do with me. Since this "tech issue" has placed my limit at half of what it was the last three months, I can no longer sell this month. So, I not only lost $5000-$10000 this evening because my items ended early, but I am also not going to be able to sell for the rest of this month until they fix their tech issue. By the way, this issue just happened to occur when my items were ending this evening. Ebay's "tech issue" has devastated me and my business. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
