Ebays using ai to police UPC is and will continue to be a disaster and will continue to be and will cause misinformation to be applied to your listing, which in my book would make ebay responsible for incorrect information being applied by ebay and here is why: I sell A LOT of diecast and if anyone who has collected and been in the hobby for years knows the early years had no such thing as a UPC code and when these codes started being applied by each manufacturer they were basic where one code applied to basically the entire blisterpack series regardless of which series or year or even the vehicle in the package, Now as I review and update some of my listings EBAY YOU HAVE MADE A MESS AND APPLIED INCORRECT INFORMATION THAT I DID NOT APPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I put the UPC on YOUR screwed up system adds it is in a Hot Wheels Truck series from 1994, while in reality as I have it correctly listed ad is not from the truck series but from the main line series and from 1997.....I will have to now add a disclaimer that all ai generated product idents are to be ignored, and only the listing body text and picture are accurate.....This is going to be a real hoot when this starts exploding across sellers items....again you fail to think ahead and just toss it against the wall and see how badly it screws things up....artificial ignorance....and will cause "Not As Described" cases to pop up....which should be sent directly to ebay and penalize ebay for it!

Dont put in the UPC.
eBay isnt here so wont see this AND since all listings state that the seller is responsible for the information, adding the UPC if you know the information may come across incorrect will eventually bite you in the bum.

That's why you need to check the information and delete or correct the information that isn't correct.

"That's why you need to check the information and delete or correct the information that isn't correct."
My store features nearly 4000 individual listings, and I have noticed, from time to time, that eBay has added incorrect item information to some of these listings, entirely without my knowledge.
Many of the listings which eBay has altered were created years ago -- and I NEVER add UPC and ISBN codes to my listings.
Recently, I sold a book which curiously had an ISBN code in the item description. Since I never add those codes to my listings, I was naturally concerned about what had happened.
Imagine my dismay and disgust, when I read the altered item description for my listing, which had "corrected" my original item description, changing the publication date, the publishing company, and the page count, while adding "special features" and chapters which had never appeared in my original listing! In short -- eBay had forced an ISBN code (for an updated edition, published many years later) upon my first edition copy -- all without any warning, and without my knowledge.
Even the title of the book had been changed, which had altered the suggested subject matter of the contents of the book!
So now I'm waiting for my buyer to open up a NAD case against me, due to a decision made 100% by eBay to "correct" my listing.
For those sellers (like myself) whose stores feature thousands of individual items, it is totally unrealistic to tell us "you need to check the information and delete or correct the information that isn't correct."
It is not eBay's job to interfere with the item details in my listings -- especially when eBay is not in possession of the items in question.
The bottom line is simple: Who has more knowledge of the physical characteristics of an item -- the very owner of the item, who can easily examine every aspect of the item in question; or some distant, uninvolved corporate entity, who seems to be totally ignorant regarding the nature, purpose and history of UPC and ISBN codes.
I don't want my buyers to be confused when they read my item descriptions by the additions of incorrect and extraneous information -- so keep your fingers out of my listings, eBay.

My store as well spans 30 years(before the buyout) and has almost 5,000 listings, with 99.9% pos feedback. and quite frankly I am tired of continually having to revise items, which takes away from time with customers and processing and listing new items...and again I feel that ebay has taken it upon itself to "sell" my item using THEIR idea instead of my accurate listing....and DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE AUTOMOTIVE SIDE WITH THE COMPLETELY INACCURATE APPS FOR "QUARENTEED FITMENT" VEHICLES...I can show at least 1,000 incorrect vehicles listed that were never made EVER: EXAMPLE Chrysler NEVER made a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with a 318 v8!!!!, Nor did they ever make a base 69 Charger with a 426 Hemi, but ebay says they do! Ebay needs to stay in its own lane and simply do what we pay them for to connect buyer and seller...So ebay has made themselves responsible for the accuracy of ever listing they change....

That may be fine on new generated listing you are posting, but how about the current ones running that they change and you have no idea...if you have some spare time your are welcome to go thru my 5,000 listings and undo ebay's garbage!

No it won't bite me...it will bite ebay...as when I enter the UPC it is directly from the package listed and not something grabbed out of thin air! My information is correct, YOURS is NOT!, go back a reread my initial post.
