Ebay auto generating business policies

Screenshot 2023-07-17 162621.jpg

Currently having an issue with ebay auto-generating policies and transferring LIVE listings over to them. I screenshotted just my Return policy page to show whats happening. I only have 3 active return policies. Buyer pays returns, no returns, and free returns. Ebay is auto-generating a "30 days money back xxx" policy.

Not only is it randomly moving active listings over, but its now set as the "default" option every time I create a new listing. Is there a setting that I'm missing here? I have a default policy set.

I am seeing a similar issue on my account.  So far, the issue seems to be only affecting return policies (I only have 1 return policy).  I have not experienced active listings transferring to the auto-generated return policy, however, I am experiencing auto-generated return policies showing up when creating new listings, relisting unsold listings, and using "sell similar".  I also have a default return policy set up, so this should not be occurring.

I also noticed yesterday that the display on my business policy page indicates that 1 listing is missing a return policy.  I bulk-edited all my listings to assign my default return policy, the bulk edit showed that all listings updated, however, the business policy page did not update.  It still indicates there is one listing with out a return policy.

devon@ebay is this a known issue?  Is there an ALERT ID we can use when contacting customer service?

Hey @mcdougle4248! I looked through this morning and did not see any open tickets for this issue. I know that our product teams were looking into something similar that was reported a couple of months back about business policies automatically generating. I can follow up to see if anything came from that but in the meantime I would have @crown_online reach out to customer support to have a ticket open on their account so our Tech team can look into it.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a specific page you can link where I can submit a ticket?

You can go to this eBay page:  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/technical-issues/technical-issues?id=4220  Then scroll to the bottom of the page and select from the available contact options to report the issue.

I spoke to someone through the chat, but they did not understand what I was saying. They just said they were going to check with the technical team about the issue. This issue is still happening. Despite having a default policy set, ebay continually creates a new return policy every time I make a new listing.  dsada.png

I requested and received a callback from customer service on the 18th.  The customer service representative I spoke with did understand the issue and could see it on my account.  She advised a workaround that involves using the Edit pencil in the Preferences area on the listing form to select the desired return policy.  I explained to her that I already know of this workaround and that the issue is the system should not be auto-generating return policies, especially since I have a default return policy.  The default return policy should show first on the listing form and until recently that is what occurred.  She finally agreed with me and submitted a ticket to the tech team.

eBay's system is also autogenerating shipping policies, as seen below. The three policies circled in red randomly appeared last evening, transferred active listings from my other shipping policies, and continued to do so overnight:

This morning there were a couple additional policies as well.

devon@ebay , I see you in the other thread about this same issue over on the Selling Board that you referred to above. In it, someone says that opting out of International Shipping (presumably in order to let EIS just take over the international shipping process) stops policy autogeneration from happening, but that is obviously not the case. I hope that that wasn't the end of the tech team trying to get to the bottom of this.

Ebay auto generating business policies

I opened a ticket with customer service today so there's one more report on the record.

Each time I go back to the Business Policies page, there's either another new shipping policy or eBay has swiped some more listings from one of my policies and put them in the autogenerated ones - which are almost duplicates of mine, but not quite. No rhyme or reason to any of it as far as I can tell.

Since I list straight from templates, I think I am going to end up opting out of Business Policies for a while. I actually like using them, but I don't trust them now.

I know this is from July 18, however you say there were no open tickets.  I had 2 tickets opened the week before that for this exact issue.  I've spoken to I don't know how many reps via phone and ebay for business.   They all say there is a glitch on my account and opened multiple tickets.  So if you said there were no tickets did they lie?  Also, as of today 8/8/2023, I had a convo with ebay for business.   Gabriel on there told me that business policies were created for enterprise accounts.  And I shouldn't be using them.  So far I have found zero information to back this up.  So is he lying now too?  I feel like there is a lot of finger pointing at sellers but no real resolution
