A lot of commentators here will say this and that.
I always think of feedback first if one does not have a lot of feedback.
What would I do?
Apparently it got listed twice...and I have done that mistake and you can see I actually sell items and I still have positive feedback...
The first sale of the buyer gets the item no matter "a price+shipping".
You have to deal with the second buyer of course and think about feedback.
I would be truth-full...but buyer might give you a few unkind words.
Have anything similar to offer...a discount on a future purchase(discount)...discount on an item for sale.
Send a free gift?...I have done all these...so far so good...still got that 100% rating on items you can see I am selling. The buyer is expecting something in the mail...Whether the buyer wants it or it I have mailed something to the buyer for free.
So far, no negative feedbacks. Would I cancel a sale and get a "ding for the first time"? Two might be a no-no and eBay doesn't like that.
Words of wisdom: Seller and Buyer need to work out the problem. That makes eBay very happy.
It's a $$$ loss and we all have been there. It's a learning lesson.
I have given freebies never getting a respond or a feedback for a mistake.

Let the buyer know what happened and that you'll have to cancel the order.
Cancel the order as out of stock.

Does that give a seller a "ding"? Two "dings" and you get offline. Or maybe not.

Yes, it'll give the seller a defect, but one shouldn't hurt, much.
