Disappearing Message When Using "Contact The Buyer"

For the last couple of days every time we type or paste a message into the "Contact The Buyer" message box it disappears.  The only workaround on this is to use the buyers private email address,  which we don't like to do.  Please advise.

Many Thanks In Advance

Re: Disappearing Message When Using "Contact The Buyer"

The same thing is happening to me too.  I also tried clicking on the buyer's feedback number, and then clicking on CONTACT BUYER, but that leads to the same text box.

I even tried from Overview > Seller tools > View My ebay Selling   and the same thing happens.

I have tried clear cache, rebooting, download/installed the latest Windows upgrade.  Still the text is disappearing when I type in the text box to CONTACT BUYER.

What browser are you using?  I'm using Chrome.

I am using Chrome also....Everything you mention in your post is happening with me. This is the very first time that this has happened in the 15 years I've been selling on ebay. I am so sick and tired of the constant glitches on this site.....I am notifying our buyers using their emails address.....I know that ebay doesn't like that but heck, I have a business to run....

Ditto here.... the text doesn't vanish - it's there but becomes invisible. Most annoying. I'm having to type in Word, spell check and then cut and paste into the text box - it vanishes but it's there and correct and ready to go. A pain to be honest.

Re: Disappearing Message When Using "Contact The Buyer"

The same thing started happening to me about a month or so ago and persists.  I type the message/question to the seller in the box and it disappears, though I know it's still there. (IF you left click/hold down and highlight, you can see it.)  This makes it VERY hard to edit.  So I highlight, erase, go to Word, type the message, copy it and then paste it in the eBay message box.  Very annoying.

I would be grateful to see a response and suggested solution from eBay.

Re: Disappearing Message When Using "Contact The Buyer"

ebay isn't here. User suggested solution: Try another browser. Works fine for me in Firefox 31 and Firefox 52

eBay changed something in the last 7 weeks (since I last used "contact buyer") when I last did it in Firefox 3.6.24 using what is apparently the old interface which is no more. Just tried a test in FF3.6.24 and get a huge, white, unresponsive, dead page instead, where I can paste into a tiny box, but can't submit or do anything of use. The button stays grayed out no matter what I do. Yet another eBay function FF3.6 can no longer perform.

So the new page isn't compatible with really old Firefox versions, and sounds like it isn't with newest browser versions either. So far we have 2 using (presumably newest) Chrome browser having the issue.

Old contact buyer URLs were of the form:
https://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ReturnUserEmail&frm=3984&redirect=0&iid=[ITEMNUMBER]&reque...]
or
https://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ReturnUserEmail&frm=5508&redirect=0&iid=[ITEMNUMBER]&reque...]

which eBay now redirects to
https://www.ebay.com/contact/sendmsg?item_id=[ITEMNUMBER]&recipient=[BUYERUSERNAME]&message_type_id=...

Someone might want to play with that and see if you can construct a URL to the old contact form using the info from the browser address bar when you land on the new contact form that fails for you.

Insert the [ITEMNUMBER] (12 digits ie: 123456789012) and [BUYERUSERNAME] (ie: wilgrant) values in the first or second URL above and see. It will probably redirect you back to the new form, but worth a shot.
