Descriptions disappear when listing new items

I spent up to 20 minutes writing a description..then when I scrolled the listing to double check everything, I came back and the description I wrote was gone, leaving only the title of the listing that eBay drops in as a default description. After a couple times I got smart and copied what I wrote, and every time I had to paste it back in before I clicked “list item”. I got 11 items listed, and checked them all…not a single description was there! I say things like “sorry, no international bidders” and “no best offers until item relists “, and they weren’t there, so I had 3 offers from China within the first 15 minutes of listing an item! I also describe defects and sizes of things…with those not there, someone can purchase, then get mad because they think I hid the flaw! I managed to go back and add shipping policies, but one item had a bid so I was not allowed to add anything. I’m using the same laptop, doing it the same way I have for years…what is the freakin’ problem?

Just tried your suggestion but no luck - description wasn't there after I cut and pasted it.  I wonder if eBay will compensate us for lost sales.

I had the problem with the description going blank and generally not working as expected. Very frustrating! I am basically a casual seller. This is how I was able to fix the problem.

I recently added a spell check extension to Chrome. (Grammar and Spelling checker by Ginger) Pausing this extension allowed Ebay to go back to functioning normally.

Hope this helps others.

Descriptions disappear when listing new items

I just spent 30 minutes writing my text for a listing in the app. Then when going back to revise, I managed to unwittingly (through some unnoticeable flick of my finger I assume) lost two-thirds of my painstakingly written (on the fly and therefore unreproducible) description, critical for me to sell my item.

It was ONLY very aggravating when messages written between other sellers and myself were annihilated, but now it's directly interfering in my ability to do business on the platform.

It is absolutely unacceptable and extremely angering.

So I feel your pain! But don't worry, we can just go submit a politely worded email to ebay and they'll certainly have it shorn up in no time, right?

Oh no wait, they literally have a "no submissions policy", which is one of the bigger WTFs I've been afflicted with in a long time. Just awful, so mind-blowingly anti-consumer I immediately deleted the app.

I wish I did not have to do that, but at least I could probably recover text written in another application. I think I'm going to have to literally write stuff in another app or Google docs, then copy paste it into the browser website, like it looks like you've been doing.

This is ridiculous. Workarounds are by definition inferior to properly designed and implemented code.

Humans have been writing mobile apps for quite a few years now, so I think enough that any rich Western company like eBay should be able to afford to produce a fully functional and not-painfully-inadequate app for their customers.

Otherwise, what would be the point of having an app, if people like me are quickly deleting it from their devices?

I'm still so enraged.

eBay as a company is both vile and pathetic, and we should expect to only see them degrading in quality and conscience as time goes on.

Thanks capitalism.

It is unfortunate this problem continues. I have found when I write listings on my phone or tablet, this happens. However, it doesn't happen on my very old laptop that is continuously plugged in and used as a desktop.
