Daylight Savings Glitch

Why does the end time of an auction change when daylight savings hits? If I start an auction at 8pm, so it ends at 8pm - why can't it just stay at 8pm instead of moving an hour in either direction? The ending time of auctions should just remain consistent regardless.

I put up a few hundred auctions a month that need to keep specific ending times, and twice a year I lose an entire week of auctions because the time change affects my end time for some reason. If I want it to end at 8pm, it should just end at 8pm.

Auctions are listed for a certain number of days, usually 7 days. That means that the auction is supposed to end 7 * 24 = 168 hours later. That's what eBay promises to sellers, and that's what they provide. A 7-day auction should end exactly 168 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds after it was started.

I don't think that an hour sooner or later is really going to make much difference in auction results, especially when eBay shows "time left" on so many screens, and when phones and computers automatically adjust for time changes.

However, if the ending time is really important to a seller, they can still control it by adjusting the time when they start the listing.

Daylight Savings should be abolished and all times should be recognized as Standard times.  Never listen to politicians that want Daylight Savings Time to stay forever.  The opposite is better, the actual Standard time.

Oh, I see. The OP's auctions are for box breaks..

Yes, in that case, I can see that the ending time is important. I think he needs to set a reminder for himself when the time change is coming up, so he can adjust his starting times accordingly, or reschedule his box breaks to match the ending times.
