I suspect that their seller/item ranking algo/bot uses view counts as a factor. Anyway, if y'all click on "Help & Contact" at the top left, next to your "Hi, Whatsyername" account name, what are the "Recommended because..." reasons for the suggested articles on the customer service page? After I went fukushima on eBay about the "Looks like there might be a selling limit on my account" suggested articles my sales went from one or two per week to several per day.
I've also been watching sales come and go in spurts that seem to correlate with view counts appearing and disappearing. Sales occur in groups throughout the day; a few within maybe 20 minutes of each other, then nothing for hours, then another few within 20 minutes of each other, and so on.
And there's another weirdness... In the past, for two years let's say, most of my sales were of a single item, whether one piece or a multiple thereof; it was rare that a buyer bought two or more items. Since going fukushima on eBay a few weeks ago, about half of my sales are of multiple items, whether one of each or quantities of each. Explain that one!
