Copy/pasting from one buyer message to another

Primary I use my sent copies (to my email) of all my buyer messages to search for scripted response templates for other buyers with the same question. Sometimes lately I’ve been doing this thru eBay messages instead of email, maybe because those times I don’t have my email open.

Have any of you noticed that when you copy the messages from one member to another and paste that it oftentimes copies certain paragraphs twice? It’s pretty annoying. Is it because I double space when I start a new paragraph?

I always have to end up selecting the duplicate paragraphs and deleting them. I also notice everything gets pushed into one paragraph. It reminds me of when you copy/paste into the text field for an INR case. But that one is different because I remember it used to turn apostrophes into spaces, and this issue I’m talking about doesn’t do that.

@iamalwaysright : Have you tried that again within the past few days? That was a longstanding bug that appears to have been quietly (they never announce anything) fixed within the past week or so.

Yea I just did it this morning before I wrote my OP. It was thru my tablet in the desktop site. I wonder if it has to do with how my iPad selects the text and copies it. Can anyone with an iPad or tablet confirm this?

I just tried it again on my PC using Firefox and I while I don't see the duplicate paragraphs I still see everything jumbled up together into one paragraph. Where there's supposed to be a double space paragraph gap, there's nothing instead. For example:

"This is what it looks like when I start a second paragraph.

After the double space, the new paragraph starts."

after copy/paste becomes:

"This is what it looks like when I start a second paragraph. After the double space, the new paragraph starts."

Not even a space in between the paragraphs.

For me, I have a word document set up and I have all my repeat type emails in there.  So I can easily locate what I need and copy and paste from there.  Then make any edits if needed to fit with the current response needed.  This has worked for years, at least for me.

@mam98031  We do the same but in Google Docs since we have multiple employees who might respond to the customer, so we all have access to the same answer templates that way.

I have mine in Notepad so there's no formatting  to worry about when you copy & paste.

I'm not seeing the old copy-and-paste duplication anymore either, but my habit has always been to reinforce paragraph gaps (pressing Enter twice between paragraphs) by dropping a space onto the blank line (in between the two Enter keystrokes). That blocks any software that's trying to take out duplicate linebreaks.

Have you tried doing a soft return instead? Maybe that would work better. Press Shift+Enter once or twice instead of just Enter by itself.
