I recently started my computer and it had a dark screen and said Checking file system C The type of the file system is NTFS. It started running some scans and then it stopped and froze so I held the start button for a while to shut down the computer. I then turned it on and the same message came up and it froze even faster so I shut the computer down again. The next time I turned the computer on it started up again so I clicked any button to opt out of the scan, which stopped the scan and did the normal process and I was able to log on. Does anyone know if this is some sign there is a problem with my computer?

Run a virus scan ASAP. Make sure the virus program looks for updates and updates its databases.
Anti-Malware is a very good program and will catch most.
You might consider letting the Disk checking run overhight, once the virus program says all clear.

I think I ran Hitman Pro around a week ago. Should I do it again?

I recently started my computer again and this time the scan went all the way through and it doesn't do it again, so hopefully it is OK now.
