Checkout not recognising I've signed in to Paypal

I've tried this on Edge Chromium, Chrome, iOS Safari, and the iOS Ebay App, we're talking over a dozen times between them.

 

Same thing every time - I select 'paypal' as the payment method, go the process of signing in to Paypal (password, 2FA, extra step that sometimes appears).  Then when I'm returned to the checkout there's no sign of it recognising I've signed in to paypal.

 

Anyone else getting this? Any idea the cause or the solution?

Have you tried signing in to PayPal directly and checking your PayPal summary page to see if PayPal needs any additional information or if there is a problem with your PayPal account?

 

Anything odd about your network setup? Using a VPN or custom firewall? It might be worth trying to check out while not connected to your usual Wifi network to see if that makes a difference.

 

I notice you are registered in the UK -- you may want to post this on the UK discussion boards as well just in case there is a UK issue at play.

Well I had typed out a long reply then the forum showed me an error (sigh). 

Shorter version: have posted in the U.K. and I’m not alone. Not device or network related as tried too many variables incl different devices, browsers, and networks. 
Not PayPal as have used it elsewhere since.

I have had the discussion boards eat a few of my attempted posts in the past, so I can definitely sympathize. Check your community profile page under drafts on the right hand side; you might be able to find your original post, assuming that an authentication error did not strike before a back up was saved.

 

I managed to find an older thread about PayPal issues -- it is possible that temporarily disabling 2FA might allow you to complete the checkout process. At least that seemed to work for some:

Not really a solution, but a possible workaround to let you complete a transaction.

There must be worldwide issues with PayPal. I've had a couple of odd glitches happen today. 😑
