Cart and Bell symbols changing ...

In the last few weeks the Cart and Bell symbols in the upper right hand corner of the page have been changing ... sometimes the bell is solid and other times it is not ... the cart actually has a slightly different shape between the two displays ...

This sound familiar.

I used the best engineering design software in the world when I was employed.

The manufacturer would make unnecessary changes that were seen by its users as an attempt to make it look like they are doing something to improve the software and then they could increase the price, year after year.  Silly changes like the appearance of an icon on a command button....changed for no reason. All it did was make you look around until you found the button with its new look.  Meanwhile, the changes the users had been screaming for, for years, remained unchanged. There are several forums dedicated to discussions about the poor performance, etc. of the software.

At one point, the Explode command icon was changed from a stick of dynamite to a piece of paper flying apart. I guess the stick of dynamite was offensive to someone. Oh, the horror of it all.

I taught myself programming and customizing of the software so I could provide commands to my users that the manufacturer did not incorporate (until later releases and increases in cost)....and changing icons to something I (we) recognized.

The new bell design, and I think the cart as well, now include a counter function, showing the number of new items for your attention as a number in a blue circle on the upper right of the icon.

Your post implies you never expect to see any kind of change on eBay's website. No website stays the same year after year after year. Icons change. Functions change. Page designs change.
