Cannot Delete Some Items From Watchlist Weird Message

So there seems to be some items that never delete from my watchlist yet others can, why is that? I have one item in particular on there that does not show a price and cannot be deleted, and when I try I get a weird message that I listed a "spam and eggs from a cow's perspective book." **bleep**??? I try on another browser and I get the "sorry we cannot process your request at this time" message. It cannot be deleted by clicking delete or the check mark the box method. This stupid **bleep** has been going on for years now. Yet I can delete other items on my list so why not this one? It is just wasting a spot on my list. Here is a pic. spam.JPG

Others have encountered that same error message in the past.

There are multiple ways to delete items from a Watch List -- try another method.

You should be able to delete most items from the item page directly.

If an item is out of stock, you can still delete it directly from the Watch List.

If you are using a desktop browser, go to your Watch List or Summary page, select the checkbox to the left of the item on the list, and then use the delete button at the top of the page.

If you are using the eBay app, from Watching, hit the "edit" menu to reveal checkboxes, select the box by the item, then tap the trash icon at the top of the page.

Cannot Delete Some Items From Watchlist Weird Message

Um no I just told you I cannot delete the item, I think after 20 years on eBay now I know how to delete items and every way there is to delete an item, and none of them worked. It will not delete from summary or watch list by clicking delete, or checking the box. I selected another item with it and it deleted the other item yet kept this one still. So I have had this item on my list now for years as it is the only item that will not delete. So why is that? It is an apron with a color selection maybe that is why as it does not know show what color I picked unless I click it, so therefore it will not delete. I get the same two errors over and over again. All other items are able to be deleted only this one can't. I am guessing it is the color selection issue or "variation" bug.

I just wanted to second this. It can be extremely annoying to get unhelpful responses discounting effects and suggesting novice solutions which (as originally stated) have already been tried. I feel this watchlist issue is some kind of programming code error that is apparently too much trouble for eBay to correct. It has been an annoying issue for many years and I'm sure its been complained about enough times that if it could be corrected would have been. I've long since given up hope for a solution and will be surprised if this is ever corrected.

If you have read any of the previous threads about this "spam and eggs" issue you know that this has happened before. Not very often, but the same error pops up from time to time. This kind of error is notoriously hard to reproduce, and thus can be very difficult to correct the actual underlying problem. It may only occur once for every million items deleted.

There are other threads about difficult to delete Watch List items not involving the "spam and eggs" error from time to time as well. That is more common, but still fairly rare. Typically the solution is to try a different method to delete the troublesome item. Or to try the same method multiple times.

Previously there were alternative pages that could be used to view and delete Watch List items -- the "All Lists" page and the "All Buying" page. Those pages seemed to rely on different programming that worked for deleting items that could otherwise not be deleted from the Watch List or Summary pages directly. But those alternative pages no longer exist and links to them now point to the Watch List or other pages. So now the usual ways to delete a watched item are to do so from the item page itself (which may not be possible if the item is out of stock and the variation cannot be selected there), to delete from the Watch List, from the Summary page, or using the eBay app. Individual watched items can also be deleted directly from search results, but that does not work for any items with variations.

If you are still using an old version of a browser such as Microsoft Explorer or if you are using any browser on Windows XP, you may have problems deleting items from your Watch List page. Try using another, newer browser. Or the eBay app.

Plenty of users are sure they have tried "everything". Very often they are overlooking an obvious alternative, which is why suggesting things that seem obvious often works so well, even if some are annoyed by those suggestions.

Cannot Delete Some Items From Watchlist Weird Message

It finally deleted after many tries and I had to go to watch list and select it and another item for it to work. It would not delete on its own. However I did this ton of times before too but it did not work. So no idea why and why that was the only item on my entire list that would not delete regardless of using an older PC and XP. Why would that matter for one item on a 200 list? I also use Summary as well as it is the closest thing to the old watch list, as the new list is absolute crap and is whited out and sometimes prices are not lined up right or not shown. This items did not show a price in the list and had a variation selection, so maybe that is why it would not delete. Unless the item ended and then I could delete it, not sure.

Yeah as someone who is a top-rated seller and powerseller with a store on another account for over 20 years there is nothing on here I do not know. The only problem is eBay keeps changing stuff and making the site much worse and not work for people with older PC's and browsers that cannot be updated because they want you to keep buying all the latest stuff. But when your devices still work on 99% of all other sites it is hard to justify changing them just for eBay. Especially when you have 25 years worth of files and games that cannot be transferred or will not work on newer ones.

So these sites need to keep a version that works with older devices as well, or lose all of their business. I have a new PC but I rarely ever need it, and it is too much hassle to keep switching them every day just for eBay. Everything always worked before however eBay is trying to fix things that were not broken with all these stupid and unnecessary changes and now they are actually breaking them.

When was the last time you cleared your browsing cache etc history?

If you are running Firefox or Chrome; With the new updates with Firefox, I am having the same issue with where and how the information in the description box displays. If I open Microsoft Edge, it is fine. It looks like there have been a lot of issues with Firefox with the last couple of updates. The Firefox facebook page had a large number of post about it.

A suitable KVM switch might allow you to switch between computers without having to rewire anything. I had an old VGA version (iogear gcs632u) that allowed me to switch between computers by tapping the scroll lock twice. With a KVM switch, one extra power cable and an ethernet cable (provided you have another port available or an ethernet switch handy), you can run both computers at the same time sharing the same keyboard, video, mouse and speakers.

Cannot Delete Some Items From Watchlist Weird Message

I clear may cache every few days. The problem is older browsers that cannot be updated and also FF and Chrome are the only ones that will even install as I have XP. But as I said they still work on almost all other sites and even eBay for the most part, but a few features always give me issues still that I have to find workarounds for. I know a lot about PC's as I build them and I am A+ certified, so I manage to find ways to get things working eventually.

Yeah I thought about that as well, but the problem is I lack the room on my stand to keep two up as old school PC's are kinda big. I am A+ plus certified and build gaming PC's I just lack the room to keep more than one up at a time. So tha is why I am able to find workarounds and make eBay work as I have a lot of knowledge about PC's and software. But there is only so much you can do with sites that do not work.

Also a lot of newer PC's do not have VGA hook ups which is what I like to use, and my PC's 32 inch LG Monitor has as well, as they look better on old school games than HDMI. Ultimately when I get more room I would like to just put in another desk and hook up my new PC with all of its own peripherals to save time, and set up a wireless WiFi network. That way I do not have to keep changing all the cords. I prefer my older PC though as I use it way more, so I only get out the newer ones from storage when I have to.

But eventually I would like to have both set up. I am not a fan of the new versions of Windows either as they look like crap, and will not run old games or most older games, even with the compatibility set-up options. So I don't use anything above Windows 7 but I have another PC with Windows 10 also. But XP is still the best, most stable, cleanest looking, and user-friendly.

Cannot Delete Some Items From Watchlist Weird Message

Not sure if this is the same in every case, but what triggers the message for me is when my account times out (logged out for inactivity), but I'm still at the account home page, and I try to delete the item from my watch wist. If I log back in to ebay, the message will not reappear, and I can remove the watched item. Hope this helps.
