Can't pay using paypal

I've committed to buying an item on ebay.ie but I cannot pay for it.

When clicking the PayPal payment option, a PayPal pop up window is shown but it remains blank.

The web browser's dev-tools console is spitting this message:

Error: You are calling paypal.checkout.setup() more than once. This function can only be called once per page load. Any further calls will be ignored.

Tried buying a different item via ebay.com, but I can't pay for it as well for the same reason.

Full cleaned the web-browser's (Chrome) cache but the problem persists.

Help!

Re: Can't pay using paypal

UPDATE:
After navigating back to the home page I had a notification about committing to buying the item and a reminder to "Pay Now". Clicking the notification took me to a payment page that looked different. This page already "knew" that I wish to pay using PayPal (maybe it remembered my selection from the original payment page).
From there I was able to follow through to PayPal's website and pay for the item.

Just to clarify: The original problem still persists on the main payment page.

Re: Can't pay using paypal

Yeah I got the same problem.

On Fri 1 Sep I can click to pay by paypal, pop-up asks to login, I enter my login details but the pop up is blank after that.

Tried again today Mon 4 Sep and still the same issue.

I use Mozilla and my cache clears on exit and I have manually cleared it with no improvment.

I can go to the paypal website and login to my account just fine so it is specific to the popup in ebay.

Re: Can't pay using paypal

Thought I'd give the old internet explorer a go.

Worked fine processed paypal as normal.

So perhaps a compatibility issue with chrome and firefox?!?

Re: Can't pay using paypal

So I checked it again today - still not working.

I disbaled my virus protection (kaputski as I call it)

I also disable 2 extension in firefox - Kaptuski protection and uBlock Origin.

Payment went through fine.

I din't close firefox at all - I was still in the checkout screen waiting for payapl - hit the back button and processed the payment again with the 3 things disabled.

I see on another thread that it may have been uBlock extension.

Don't forget to re-enable the extensions when done...

Re: Can't pay using paypal

Pretty much anything you try to do eBay is having a problem with servers timing out. It sounds like the connection is timing out and too many requests are being made and the payment log in is getting kicked out. Some users have had good success by opening PayPal in a new tab and logging into their site. Then while logged into PayPal they open their cart and the payment goes through as they are already logged into PayPal.

For the last few days every thing has been lagging and timing out causing me to refresh pages over and over. I have tried deleting history several times from edge but this has not helped. I have MacAfee Live Safe and they have a more comprehensive file cleaning program. After I ran it things on Ebay seam to be running better.
