Can't feedback on seller wo feedback on item

I was ready to give feedback on the seller because they were helpful but I haven't had a chance to use the product yet so I didn't want to feedback on that, but now when I just go to purchased items and try to give feedback it insists I give feedback on both and the Submit button is grayed out until I do. Makes no sense. Should be changed.

You should be able to leave feedback for the seller without adding a star rating for the product. At least that is the way feedback works for me.

I just leave feedback for the seller and skip everything else that's optional.

While the text next to the comment box encourages a product review, whatever you type will appear on the seller's feedback page and can be about the seller/transaction, not the product.

eBay required a star rating for products last year, but rolled it back because of problems like yours (haven't used the product yet).

And eBay gives you 60 days to leave feedback.  Plus it's optional/voluntary, not mandatory/required.
