Can't ask eBay to step in on item not received

3 days after reporting an item not received and getting no response from the seller, eBay sent me a note with a link to ask them to step in.  When I click this link and try to respond, I get this error message:

Oops, we had a technical hiccup

 

I'm told to try again later.  I have tried a number of times and keep getting this error message.

Can't ask eBay to step in on item not received

Are you signed in to the same eBay account used to make the purchase when you use that link? If not, that error message can be the result. Other issues may cause that message as well, but using the wrong account is a big one.

Yes, I'm signed in on the same eBay account used to make the purchase.  I'm still getting this error message today.  I'm guessing it's because the time limit for eBay to give a refund has expired.  If that is the case, then the message should NOT tell me to try again later.  In the past I have gotten messages saying eBay can't provide a refund due to this but to work with the seller to hopefully get a resolution.

Hi @somanypostcards 

 

If you waited too long to file a case with eBay … you still are able to request a refund from either PayPal or your credit card company.

Can't ask eBay to step in on item not received

Though I was never able to ask eBay to step in, today I got a refund for this item from eBay.  Go figure.
