Can not logout because ebay wants me to verify and then goes back to being logged in

I want to logout out of my account, but when I choose the Log Out option I am presented with a verification tick box to prove I'm human, which I tick and then it gives me some images to match against others shown, so I follow those steps, and then I end up back at the verification tick box page to prove I'm human, and it keeps going round in circles without ever logging out. I then close the page and the browser, but when I come back to my ebay bookmark, I'm still logged in. So, ebay, how can I ever log out instead of going round in pointless circles? Has been happening for several days now...

You are registered in the UK, but you are currently signed in to ebay.com.

To sign out, try manually erasing just your eBay cookies and then closing your browser.

Repeated Captcha requests or failures might be a sign that your browser is having problems saving cookies properly, or else a sign of a network issue. Using a VPN or a hotspot, or certain kinds of privacy software might also cause some issues.

Make sure your browser is up-to-date and has JavaScript enabled (and not blocked) and that cookies are not being blocked:

Try using a different browser or a private or incognito browser window and see if you run into the same Captcha issues.

If you are using an ad blocker, try temporarily disabling it to see if that makes a difference.

If you are using a mobile browser, try changing to a different browser mode: mobile, classic or desktop. Try a desktop browser or a mobile browser in desktop mode.
