This is not the first time Ebay has under estimated the shipping cost on calculated shipping. This is not acceptable. Please fix.

Hi @iprefervintage, additionally, I wanted to add that in the process of investigating this further I found that you are currently offering shipping discounts to your buyers so you will consistently see a higher charge when purchasing the label than what the buyer pays to you. This is how you have your account set up, but you can make changes if you would like: go into your Account Settings under Shipping Preferences and select Edit next to Offer Carrier-Specific Discounts. From there, you can deselect the checkboxes next to the carriers you no longer wish to pass along a discount for or check the I do not want to offer carrier-specific discounts option at the bottom of the list. You can learn more about this process by visiting our help page on Shipping Discounts.

WHAT??? @Anonymous
When discounts are passed to buyers, buyers pay the same discounted rate that sellers do for the labels (within pennies for FedEx and exactly the same amounts for USPS).
Response to your previous post: FedEx has nothing to do with anything posted in this thread.
The only issue here is that the eBay listing calculator used the WRONG BILLABLE WEIGHT and undercharged the buyer.
Hi @berserkerplanet:
1) When discounts are passed on to buyers, this can lead to a difference between what the seller pays for the label and what the buyer has paid. When this has occurred, it would working as designed and the seller would need to decide if they wish to continue passing along discounts to their buyers.
2) FedEx is absolutely related to the topic of this thread and my repeated recommendations to contact FedEx about the discrepancy in measurements is for the OP's specific package dimensions. FedEx recorded a much smaller package being received with a significantly lower shipping charge than what the OP was shown at the time of label creation. This is valuable insight for a seller to review, as accurate measurements are important for shipping cost estimates.
3) FedEx shipping charges are assessed to the seller's invoice once FedEx has received the package. The estimated costs at the time of checkout, the time of label creation and the eventual time of the charge being applied to the invoice can vary for a number of reasons.
4) I have had the information for this specific transaction reviewed and it was not related to incorrect billable weight being used.

I don't see how that could happen. Could you give an example?

I would like to see an example of that too!
I'm having the same problem. Today, eBay charged the customer 11.25 on a shipment that cost me over $18.00! It's not the first time either. How would I pass eBay discounts to the buyer?
I'd love to find how this happens so if I'm doing something wrong, I can fix it.

Have you ever found out how to fix the shipping with ebay? Today it happened to me. They undercharged the customer and expect me to eat the difference. I even doubled the weight of the item and they still undercharged them. I usually do free shipping so I never had to deal with this issue, but now I might have to start charging a flat rate. Any thoughts?

When setting up the shipping calculator, there are two separate drop-down menus: One for "Service" and one for "Package type." If the second menu is set up for "Letter" or "Large envelope" then that's what your buyer will be charged for, even if you choose "First Class package" from the drop-down menu for service. In the case of your hat, the listing was set up to charge for postage for a 10-ounce Large Envelope, not for a package.

Yes! Omg, I thought I was the only person having an issue! For three of my items within the last three weeks eBay has charged me MORE to print a shipping label than what it charged the customer for shipping. Thus I have lost money on shipping by almost $2 for each item. I actually called eBay today and they tried to tell me that I'm classifying my items wrong (large envelope versus package). That makes no sense because regardless of how I classify them, the information does not change between the time shipping is calculated for the customer, when the customer pays, and when it is calculated to print and charge for my label. Seriously, what the hell is going on?! So frustrated right now!
