I have been watching the Page View Bar Graph Chart on the Performance Traffic Page.
I have been trying different listing strategies. Best so far is mass early ending and relisting of items on a daily basis.
I have pushed up page view traffic by 400-500%, nearly all of this new traffic is from external sites.
(This may all be wasted effort, since most of the items I do sell have ZERO page views, and this data has been rendered useless since they overhauled the count system. But I am seeing no downturn in sales with this, and we are in the worst economy in 75 years, so nothing to lose.)
But after a few days, the page views are disappearing from the chart. The bar graph and count shows the disappearing views from the external site traffic.
But the views shown for each listing on the Manage Active Listings page do not appear to be changing. Only on that chart.
It's like watching the manipulation of the health department daily death count from a few years ago. A week or ten days with no deaths, and check tomorrow to find three or four deaths per day. Every day the chart data changes drastically as the numbers are manipulated.
