If you have multi-variation listings, I can guarantee you that your conversion rate has dropped recently due to this.
So here is how it used to work on eBay before this glitch:
1. Buyer clicks on multi-variation listing
2. After clicking, the main image of the listing is displayed and the buyer can simply swipe to see to the next pictures.
3. Only after choosing a variation from the drop-down list, the app will show that variation's image
The glitch I am talking about now is part of the glitch that caused main images of listings not to show up in search few weeks ago. This is how the app is behaving now:
1. Buyer clicks on multi-variation listing
2. The app will automatically and promptly select a variation for the buyer and start the show with that variation's image
3. The buyer now has to swipe all the way back in order to see the main images of the listing!
This is leading to confusion on the part of buyers. From my own experience, the conversion rate has dropped by 15-30% due to this. Not all buyers are ready to spend few minutes trying to see the pictures of a listing in the correct order. If they click and see the 30th image of the listing first, they decide to go back and see something else.
Here is how you could verify the existence of this glitch:
1. Get your smartphone and open the eBay app
2. Search for a product on eBay that usually has variation (e.g: clothing)
3. Click on a multi-variation listing --> the app will now start showing you a variation's image first upon clicking and you will have to swipe back to see the main images of the listing
It has never been like this on eBay, I tried contacting them many times, but it seems that because they have not received reports about this issue from other sellers the problem doesn't exist on the site!!!
