ACCESS DENIED to EBAY

All of a sudden I was shut out of ebay with a message: ACCESS DENIED . It followed to say I did not have permissioin to access  the site.

After a long exercise on the phone with comcast support that reviewed several settings etc, the answer was I need a new modem from comcast.  If you're having this problem and it is only with accessing ebay, try accessing the site from a friends house or away from your modem. If it works everywhere except through your modem, then that's probably the answer for you too. Good Luck.

Modem problem shouldn't be restricted to just one website, though. You shouldn't be able to get online at all if it's a true modem problem. 

Interestingly enough, calling Comcast when you can't get online is a waste of time. They have an automated phone help system similar to eBays chat help system and the recommendation for not being able to get online is to log in to your Comcast account to see if there are any error messages.🙄

If it works everywhere except through your modem

Before replacing your cable modem, try power cycling it first.

If the problem is actually with your dynamic IP-address, turning your cable modem off and back on after thirty seconds may get you a new address.

If your previous IP-address was blocked by Akamai, that may solve the issue for you. However, if Akamai is blocking your address because of an ongoing problem with your internet use, your new address may be blocked again as well.
