Despite having the correct username and password, I kept getting the “2 step verification” page hanging. No matter, what I did, I could not logon. I even contacted ebay via online chat and then by phone but nobody at Ebay could help. Then accidentally, I found the reason for this problem.
2 step verification keeps hanging because it is waiting for verification from the Ebay app that had uninstalled. As the app did not exist anymore, the verification process couldn’t be completed. Ebay need to fix this so that if the 2 step verification does not completed within a certain time span, it offers another method of verification, for example by sending a security code to your phone by text.
Anyway, I managed to get round this problem, reinstalling the ebay app. I could then complete the 2 step verification process. My advice to you is to either make sure you don’t delete the ebay app or turn off 2 step verification via the ebay app.
